January Bingo fill

Here is a Quatern for the "taking a travel year" on the public Life Card for the Fresh Starts Bingo.

Foreign Sights
a quatern

Now is the best time to explore,
in between stages of your life.
Old one done, new one not begun;
the perfect opportunity.

A travel wish list has been made:
Now is the best time to explore,
to find the things you want to see
that can't be found around your home.

So many foreign sights to see,
very different from what you know.
Now is the best time to explore;
experience the world first hand.

Everyone pushes more schooling
but truth be told there is no rush.
Take time to savour your freedom --
Niw is the best time to explore.

Prompt: marriage

For the "marriage" square on the public Life Card for Fresh Starts bingo, I wrote an Indriso.

A Joining
an indriso

Today we start a journey,
vowing to stay by each other's side,
"you" and "I" becoming "family."

We'll take it all in stride;
from good to bad to crazy,
it'll be a wild ride.

A partner for life we've found

Together, always, joyfully for ever bound.

Last January Fill

This is the final fill I managed before January ran out on me. I made a full blackout on a 5x5 card, plus 9 more fills on a second card, so I'm very happy indeed. And I've made a card for the Valentine's bingo, so there will be more fills coming. :) This is a Bref Double for the "birth" square on the public Life Card for Fresh Starts bingo.

New Life
a bref double

Today I looked into your eyes
for the very first time.
Instantly I was lost,
caught in your tiny gaze.

So fragile and small,
yet such powerful cries.
I love you already,
even through my pain fueled haze.

No matter what the cost,
I will always protect you
and guide you as best I can
for the rest of my days.

There will be many happy sighs
as each new milestone is crossed.

First February Fill!

I made myself a card for this years Valentines Bingi Fest using a combination of new and old lists. I don't think I'll have as many structured poems as last month, just because of the nature of the prompts, but anything I can create is good with me, as I could definitely use the practise. And it's fun! My first fill is a free-verse poem for the "play a musical instrument" square.

Beautiful Harmony

The flute is high and lilting;
shrill and piercing in inexperienced hands,
yet melodic and smooth under the lips of an expert,
capable of giving voice to the most intricate of melodies.

The clarinet is deeper,
its reed easier for a novice to get used to.
Versitile in its ability to play both melody and harmony,
content to play whichever is needed.

The saxophone is deepest of all,
the vibrations giving a richness to the sound.
Most often providing the background for the others,
yet able to shine center-stage when given the chance.

Together, they make beautiful music,
each with their own part to play,
twining in and around one another until the sound is blended perfectly,
creating one whole instead of three separate parts.

After I get some sleep, I'll post this week's Comfort Corner. I hope to see you there!

Comfort Corner

The carpet is thick, soft and cream coloured, while the walls are a yellow bronze colour. In the corner along one wall there is a large sofa, able to seat 4 or 5 people comfortably. Along the other corner wall there is a smaller sofa for 2 or 3 people. In the middle of the furniture, there is a low, round coffee table, perfect for colouring at or for other craft activities.

There is a scratching post and a cat tree for climbing, which are both along the wall opposite the couch. A few fluffy beds have also been put out, in varying sizes, in case any one prefers the floor. There is also a large sturdy perch and a marked off area that says "Landing Pad" in case any winged friends want to visit.

There is now a blue chaise chair in the nook as well, which has been placed near the couch and is good for both sitting and spreading out lengthwise.

There are two baskets off to the side. One contains fuzzy blankets, a variety of fuzzy and textured pillows, and a collection of stuffed animals while the other contains a variety of art supplies, ranging from colouring pages and blank paper to crayons and coloured pencils, and more besides.

Today there is walnut cracker dip, tostada pizza, tea, hot chocolate, and assorted fruits. (Recipes for the first two items will appear on my journal sometime tomorrow or Tuesday.)
