I think that's what I'm gonna do. The book gives the British (it says english) terms, but has the American names in brackets beside them. When I type up the pattern, I'll include the list of abbreviations, and put the American name beside them. Then I will write the pattern as the book has it so I don't have to translate, and I'll use the English terms throughout for clarity.
