>>I had a little less success last year than I had hoped, because of unexpected circumstances,<<
That will wreck anything.
>>One thing I did notice about my list this year is that it contains relatively few goals that are short and easy to knock off early on.<<
I found that having at least a few of those gives me a great sense of accomplishment, especially because I have so many goals that can't be completed until the end of the year. So this year's first was launching birdfeeding and I am 1 goal done! \o/ Another favorite is cleaning my window crystals. This post has links to one-day and one-week resolutions.
>>Yoga every day except Monday. This is to replace my other fitness goals because I actually like yoga. I'm hoping this will help me stick to the goal better than my previous ones.<<
That's very promising.
>> I'm also going to try to find "cardio" or "strength" yoga videos to help with getting in shape too.<<
>> I'd like to try to do a "30 day yoga" challenge this year, and not miss any days, which is what happened last year.<<
That's one good approach. Another is a "counter" approach where you try to reach X number and they don't have to be all in a row.
>>This year, I'm going to try to find at least a dozen recipes or so by January 15 that I want to cook, to cut down on some of the decision making so that cooking will be easier.<<
Yeah, just deciding can be hard. My partner and I like to read cookbooks together and pick recipes to try. And he found rye flour today, after much searching, so I can make the rye shortbread cookies! In my copious spare time.
>>I don't know how it will go at the new house, since the garden is much different than my old one and I'm not sure what it will look like in the summer.<<
* Do a soil test so you know what if anything needs fixing re: nutrients and pH.
* Do a water test so you know how much it'll likely need.
* Measure sunlight in your new yard. This takes all year because the changing sun angle will throw light differently per season.
Doing these things this growing season will make it easier to garden later. The first year, well, I'd plant things that can take a beating because you don't know the local challenges yet.
>>Take one personal day a month to just chill and recharge my batteries.<<
Very astute.
>>Choose a knitting or crochet project to do to use up some of the yarn I have (I have waaaaayyyyy too much LOL).<<
>>Do something creative/artistic. I have no idea what, and I'm not sure if the vagueness will be a help or a hindrance, but this is all I've got so far.<<
I really like my "fill in the blank" goal because I always wind up with an unexpected project or two, and I like being able to take credit for that.
>>Website updates for ysabetwordsmith. I honestly don't know how to frame this goal to be successful at it.<<
My first idea would be to work on the request we got for a starter guide to Polychrome Heroics. My second idea would be thread pages for popular ones that don't have a page yet, like Rutledge. Up to you though. Anything is progress.
>>Post an end-of-month goal review on DW. I'm hoping this will help me track the progress of my on-going goals, but we'll see how that goes.<<
Oh, that's a good idea. I do weekly reviews in January.
