January Goal Review

January is over! It feels like it went pretty quickly, and I think I did well with my goals this month. I can already tell I'll need to focus on some more than others, and I have a few edits and additions to make. Without further ado, look behind the cut for a detailed review!

--Earn 30XP a day on Duolingo. Try to complete one "topic" a day.
---I have practiced every day, though I have not always had the energy to do one whole topic. I'm going to keep trying for that when I can, though.

--Practice French and Polish twice a week, practice Hawaiian, Esperanto, and German once a week. I might change this later, but for now I will keep this format in hopes of making progress on all five languages.
---I stuck to my practice schedule and I haven't felt the need to alter it yet.

--Complete 15 units in French (Unit 15 of Section 8), complete 10 units in Polish (Unit 13 of Section 3), complete 5 Legendary units in Hawaiian (Unit 6 of Section 2), complete 5 Legendary units in Esperanto (Unit 11 of Section 2), complete 5 units in German (Unit 6 of Section 3).
---It's too early to really have any progress on this goal yet, but I am practicing daily, so I'm moving forward at the very least. I do need to edit this one though, since Duolingo updated some courses again. Hawaiian is no longer complete, so my 5 Units to complete are regular, not Legendary, and will bring me to Unit 16 of Section 2. French also got updated (again), so the new goal there is Unit 17 of Section 8.

--Purchase a gym membership. Go to the gym at least twice a week. I expect this one will need an adjustment period, since this is new this year and the time commitment is going to be tricky to figure out.
---I have purchased my membership, and seem to have settled in to Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays for the gym, though the exact days may be up in the air. So far, I have made it to the gym at least twice a week, even if I did less than I expected some days.

--Do yoga every day except Mondays. However, if I don't do yoga on a day I go to the gym, I'll be okay with that.
---I did yoga every day in January and completed the 30-Days of Yoga challenge!!

--Make a weekly post on Thursdays and make the Comfort Corner posts on the first third and fifth Sundays of the month.
---I have already had one late Thursday post, but I did get it up the next day, so it's not too bad. I have been on time with all my Sunday posts.

--Cook once a week. I may need to try making things to freeze, so that I can have more variety in my meals and can stick to this goal better.
---I have cooked something every week, even if it wasn't always a big thing.

--Do the dishes Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays as well as after any cooking or baking I do.
---I think I've missed three days here, but I've been good at doing my cooking dishes so that's not a bad start to this goal.

--Water daily and weed weekly during the growing season (May to September probably).
---Not relevant yet.

--$X/week in savings.
---Success for January!

--Donate to charity once a month. Create the list by January 15. (List created Jan 2)
---Done for January.

--Read one book a month. Make a list by January 15. (List creatd Jan 2)
---I read three books this month, "Amazon Ink," "The Necromancer," and "Ocean Under the Ice." I enjoyed all three of them, especially "Ocean Under the Ice," which is a science-fiction book that features a space voyage to a distant planet and includes many scientific details about the geography and creatures living there.

--Play flute once a month.
---Done in January. I practiced songs from my new Taylor Swift music book.

--Participate in at least one bingo fest. Tentatively, the Valentine's fest looks most promising, though a few others look intriguing as well.
---Not done yet, January was a busy month for me.

--Work on old bingo cards.
---No progress yet.

--Finish socks.
---The socks are not finished yet, but I am just about to do the shaping of the heel for the first sock! This is more progress than I think I've made in the last year and a half, and it lines up with the sub-goal I set for this one. :D

--Do one knit or crochet project. I have several ideas for this, so hopefully I can achieve this early.
---I have not finished my scarf yet, but I'm just about to make my last colour change, and then it should be fairly quick to finish. I have several ideas for next projects and I'm looking forward to starting one of those.

--Get one colour of fabric cut for my quilt.
---No progress here yet, but I'm hopeful for February.

--Join one crafting class. A local art store offers options, so hopefully I will find something that catches my eye.
---I haven't looked for any classes yet, but I do have a few ideas of things to look for, so that's something at least.

--Complete one puzzle.
---I have put together the frame for a panoramic puzzle I got for Christmas.

--Take one "me" day a month. Hopefully I can plan these better this year and actually get more benefit out of them.
---I did this in January. The day was fairly low-key and involved spending time with my new crush so it was very nice. :)

--Go rock climbing or do a ropes course. This might be one I can do with my sister, which will make it extra fun.
---I went to the Clip-&-Climb in January (a local rock climbing gym with some exotic walls) with my new crush. I had a lot of fun and I'm hoping to go again sometime soon, either alone or with him again. I would also still like to do a ropes course, but that will likely have to wait until warmer months.

--Do one outside activity a month.
---I went for a walk in a local park. It was a bit foggy but I saw lots of birds so it was a very nice walk.

--Answer DW comments as I get them. Answer 5 per weekend to clear any backlog that may accumulate.
---I missed one day, but I've been pretty good at answering as they come in. I'm under 5 comments now, although I did accidentally mark everything read, so a few comments I meant to get back to probably won't get answered now. Sorry about that.

--Fill in wall calendar with all recurring goals by January 15. (Done Jan 2)

--Improve inter-personal and intra-personal skills. I don't have a plan for this yet, but this feels like a weak area to me and I'd like to shore it up.
---I haven't made a plan or anything for this yet.

--Determine whether finding a new therapist or other mental health professional would be beneficial. Make a plan with concrete steps to improve at least one slice of the Circle of Life.
---This is another one that I haven't had time to start yet.

--Mark daily tasks as they are completed. Write a monthly goal review at the end of each month.
---I have been doing really well checking off daily tasks. I don't always mark them day of, but I don't think I've let it go more than a day so far. It definitely helps having the calendar somewhere easily accessible. The January monthly review is on time, so so far so good on that account.

Overall January has been a really good month and I'm hoping February keeps up like this.

--Do one seasonal activity each season.
---I added this one to remind myself to do things I enjoy at the right time of year. I have ideas for some of the activities so far, but I may change mind mind on others.
I have a good feeling about this year. Hopefully the momentum carries forward!

Watch for it in November or thereabouts. I made a note in my calendar, if I have time to do it then. The idea is to get ahead of the rush for New Year's resolutions.
