May Monthly Goal Review

May was alright. I feel like I missed more weekly goals than I wanted, but I also did a lot of other stuff, so I think it might balance itself out. More details can be found below.

--Earn 30XP a day on Duolingo. Try to complete one "topic" a day.
---I missed one day in May. Not ideal, but it was a busy weekend and I was totally zonked, so I can live with it.

--Practice French and Polish twice a week, practice Hawaiian, Esperanto, and German once a week. I might change this later, but for now I will keep this format in hopes of making progress on all five languages.
---I stuck to my practice schedule this month.

--Complete 15 units in French (Unit 17 of Section 8), complete 10 units in Polish (Unit 13 of Section 3), complete 5 units in Hawaiian (Unit 16 of Section 2), complete 5 Legendary units in Esperanto (Unit 11 of Section 2), complete 5 units in German (Unit 6 of Section 3).
---I've made progress on all my languages, though it may not be as much as I needed. I also have to redo the goal for Esperanto, as it just got an overhaul like the Polish course.

--Purchase a gym membership (completed Jan 3). Go to the gym at least twice a week. I expect this one will need an adjustment period, since this is new this year and the time commitment is going to be tricky to figure out.
---I didn't go to the gym at all in May. I'm going to have to put some thought into this goal. I don't have much motivation to go, but I paid for the whole year, so I don't necessarily want to give up yet.

--Do yoga every day except Mondays. However, if I don't do yoga on a day I go to the gym, I'll be okay with that.
---I missed 10 days in May. -.- Must do better in June.

--Make a weekly post on Thursdays and make the Comfort Corner posts on the first third and fifth Sundays of the month.
---I missed one Thursday post and one Sunday post, though I did make up the Sunday post the next week.

--Cook once a week. I may need to try making things to freeze, so that I can have more variety in my meals and can stick to this goal better.
---I cooked every week in May, though I also ate out more than I'd like. Perhaps I can work in this in June.

--Do the dishes Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays as well as after any cooking or baking I do.
---I missed 7 out of 13 days which is not great, but I also didn't make very many dishes this month, so... I guess that's something?

--Water daily and weed weekly during the growing season (May to September probably).
---I did the weeding twice in May, which means I missed three times. I need to find time to weed, but all my weekends ended up pretty busy this month. I've also be slacking on the watering, so I need to make sure I get into a rhythm for June, so I can avoid killing my plants.

--$X/week in savings.
---Success for May!

--Donate to charity once a month. Create the list by January 15. (List created Jan 2)
---Done for May.

--Read one book a month. Make a list by January 15. (List created Jan 2)
---I read "L'etalon Noir" in May, the French version of the pre-teen book, "The Black Stallion." It was an enjoyable read, and I actually understood a lot more of it than expected. Some words I had to guess at using context, but the number that I needed to look up in the dictionary was pretty small. I didn't read a second book in May, but I did end up re-reading a fanfic series that totaled over a million words, so I did still do a lot of reading.

--Play flute once a month.
---Done in May. I played some songs from my Disney book. They are fun to play, though I could definitely use some more practice with them.

--Participate in at least one bingo fest. Tentatively, the Valentine's fest looks most promising, though a few others look intriguing as well.
---I made a superhero bingo card, but I didn't manage to make any fills. I think I'd like to make a Pride card for June, so hopefully my creative vibe will come back.

--Work on old bingo cards.
---Still no progress, unfortunately.

--Finish socks.
---I finished my socks! They look really good and they fit and I'm so happy I finally finished them! :D

--Do one knit or crochet project. I have several ideas for this, so hopefully I can achieve this early.
---I finished all 6 of the flower coasters for my mom, in time for Mother's Day. I finished another dishcloth and started on my basket. In June, I will be working on the basket and the baby blanket, if everything goes according to plan.

--Get one colour of fabric cut for my quilt.
---No progress still, sadly.

--Join one crafting class. A local art store offers options, so hopefully I will find something that catches my eye.
---I haven't found a class yet, but I may want to find one of the wine and paint nights, if I can.

--Complete one puzzle.
---My sister and I completed the New York skyline puzzle together.

--Take one "me" day a month. Hopefully I can plan these better this year and actually get more benefit out of them.
---I didn't really manage to do this this month. I got a few half-days of rest in, but nothing completely for me. I'm going to have to be more deliberate about that in June, to avoid feeling burnt out or overwhelmed.

--Go rock climbing or do a ropes course. This might be one I can do with my sister, which will make it extra fun.
---Nothing new done in May.

--Do one outside activity a month.
---I went to a National Park and a Provincial Park this month. Both days were a lot of fun.

--Answer DW comments as I get them. Answer 5 per weekend to clear any backlog that may accumulate.
---I'm sure I missed a few weekends, but I've done okay responding as things come in, and my backlog is on the small side at the moment. Hopefully I will be able to clear it all the way in June.

--Fill in wall calendar with all recurring goals by January 15. (Done Jan 2)

--Improve inter-personal and intra-personal skills. I don't have a plan for this yet, but this feels like a weak area to me and I'd like to shore it up.
---Nothing here yet.

--Determine whether finding a new therapist or other mental health professional would be beneficial. Make a plan with concrete steps to improve at least one slice of the Circle of Life.
---No movement here.

--Mark daily tasks as they are completed. Write a monthly goal review at the end of each month.
---I seem to be a few days behind on this usually, but I'm okay with that. This method is working better than others have in the past. I'm a few days late on my monthly review again, but it is within the first week, so that's not terrible.

--Do one seasonal activity each season.
---I went to a Provincial Park! Spring has been completed.

--**--Random fun activity for May: I went to a Tigers VS Blue Jay's baseball game with a bunch of my coworkers. It was a lot of fun and something I don't normally do.

All in all, May wasn't too bad, but the habitual goals definitely suffered a bit. I especially need to pay attention to my diet and exercise habits; I'm seeing some trends in this area that I don't like very much. Hopefully June will have a better track record. I hope you all are finding success with your goals, if you set any this time around! :)
