July Goal Review
July had a lot of fun things going on, and I think I still did decently on my goals. Further details behind the cut.
--Earn 30XP a day on Duolingo. Try to complete one "topic" a day.
---No missed days in July, though I seem to be doing half a topic a day (three lessons instead of six, usually). That's alright though, progress is progress!
--Practice French and Polish twice a week, practice Hawaiian, Esperanto, and German once a week. I might change this later, but for now I will keep this format in hopes of making progress on all five languages.
---I stuck to my practice schedule this month.
--Complete 15 units in French (Unit 17 of Section 8), complete 10 units in Polish (Unit 3 of Section 4), complete 5 units in Hawaiian (Unit 30 of Section 2), complete 5 Legendary units in Esperanto (Unit 30 of Section 2), complete 5 units in German (Unit 6 of Section 3).
---Thanks to yet *another* Duolingo update, Polish is now finished, since an entire unit got removed from the course. The German goal is also finished, though I don't know where I'm at on the other goals at the moment.
--Purchase a gym membership (completed Jan 3). Go to the gym at least twice a week. I expect this one will need an adjustment period, since this is new this year and the time commitment is going to be tricky to figure out.
---I didn't go twice a week, but I did get to the gym for cardio twice right near the end of the month! Hopefully I can carry this momentum into August and keep going to the gym.
--Do yoga every day except Mondays. However, if I don't do yoga on a day I go to the gym, I'll be okay with that.
---5 missed days in July. The number is still decreasing but not where I'd like it to be yet.
--Make a weekly post on Thursdays and make the Comfort Corner posts on the first third and fifth Sundays of the month.
---I was late on one weekly post but made the other three. All my Sunday posts were on time.
--Cook once a week. I may need to try making things to freeze, so that I can have more variety in my meals and can stick to this goal better.
---I cooked every week except for the first week, since we had many leftovers from our Canada Day get together. I have also bought two cookbooks that are supposed to have quick, healthy recipes, so maybe cooking will be easier in the future.
--Do the dishes Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays as well as after any cooking or baking I do.
---Three missed days again, but two "extra" days, so this one is still doing well.
--Water daily and weed weekly during the growing season (May to September probably).
---I only weeded twice, and I watered less than I probably should have, but we've had enough rain that everything still looks pretty healthy. I should try to weed and trim dead stuff in August if I can.
--$X/week in savings.
---Success for July!
--Donate to charity once a month. Create the list by January 15. (List created Jan 2)
---Done for July.
--Read one book a month. Make a list by January 15. (List created Jan 2)
---I read "Prince in Disguise" in July. It was a good read, and I managed to accurately predict one of the "twists" although it was handled better than I anticipated, which was nice.
--Play flute once a month.
---Done in July. I played some songs from my Easy Rock book this month.
--Participate in at least one bingo fest. Tentatively, the Valentine's fest looks most promising, though a few others look intriguing as well.
---I made a card for the Games and Entertainment bingo fest and I actually managed to get two bingos plus a few extra fills!
--Work on old bingo cards.
---No progress in July, which is okay because I was working on my new card.
--Finish socks. (Done in May)
---I finished my socks! They look really good and they fit and I'm so happy I finally finished them! :D
--Do one knit or crochet project. I have several ideas for this, so hopefully I can achieve this early. (Done in March)
---My basket and the ravenclaw blanket are almost done, and I've made progress on my hexagons.
--Get one colour of fabric cut for my quilt.
---No progress still, unfortunately.
--Join one crafting class. A local art store offers options, so hopefully I will find something that catches my eye.
---I haven't found a class yet, but I may want to find one of the wine and paint nights, if I can. This one almost got done but the timing didn't work out unfortunately. I'll have to keep my eyes open for other opportunities.
--Complete one puzzle.
---I haven't started my rainbow bird puzzle yet, but I've had a lot going on, so that's ok.
--Take one "me" day a month. Hopefully I can plan these better this year and actually get more benefit out of them.
---Success in July. I had a relaxing day reading and sitting outside and not doing much of anything.
--Go rock climbing or do a ropes course. This might be one I can do with my sister, which will make it extra fun. (Done in July)
---My boyfriend and I went to the ropes course at Boler Mountain in early July. It was a lot of fun!
--Do one outside activity a month.
---The ropes course was outside, I went to the beach, and watched a local rodeo.
--Answer DW comments as I get them. Answer 5 per weekend to clear any backlog that may accumulate.
---I missed most weekends, but I've been doing okay at answering as they come in.
--Fill in wall calendar with all recurring goals by January 15. (Done Jan 2)
--Improve inter-personal and intra-personal skills. I don't have a plan for this yet, but this feels like a weak area to me and I'd like to shore it up.
---Nothing here yet. Still.
--Determine whether finding a new therapist or other mental health professional would be beneficial. Make a plan with concrete steps to improve at least one slice of the Circle of Life.
---No plan yet, though I really should make one.
--Mark daily tasks as they are completed. Write a monthly goal review at the end of each month.
---July was okay for on time marking, though I still tend to leave it til a few days later, which is not great. I am writing my review post now, but it's later than I'd like it to be. I will try to be earlier with the August reviewm
--Do one seasonal activity each season.
---I went to the beach!
--**--Random fun activity for July: I went to the treetop rope course, a local rodeo, my Union picnic, and my boyfriend's brothers wedding. July was a lot of fun!
July was a good month, that didn't have too many misses. I'm going to try for even fewer nisses in August, but we'll see how that goes.
