The Bear shambles in bearing compostable clamshells of just-hot-enough bitterballen, assorted cheeses, and a growler of good Dutch ale.. "I'm back! or, I won't be back... to America anytime short-term soon... but this being liminal space, I can still show up and share!"
Bitterballen are made by making a thick meat stew, chilling it until not quite frozen, then breading and deep-frying. Real Dutch ones are rather bland, but these have been kicked up a notch with onion, sage, rosemary, and a bit of thyme..
So, yeah. Hoist the horizontal tricolour and play "Het Wilhelmus", I am writing from Den Haag, in mijn nieuwe huis (which sounds _almost_ the same in Dutch as it does in Murkin, it's just spelt differently)... we're nowhere near completely put together yet, but! we're cooking-functional, and sleeping-functional, and cat-functional, and things KEEP ARRIVING... the motherlode will be mid-December, where we put all the things we wanted to keep from Back West on de boot and sent it around the world the long way... it's somewhere in China as I write this, and will transit the Straits of Malacca, probably tag India, run the Red Sea gauntlet, and probably hit one more port in the Med before arriving in Rotterdam. It's been AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH for two months now... but I'm finally coming up for air, sort of... Fiber drops Tuesday, and then we will have WARP GIGGLEBIT SPEEDS...
