November, December, and Year End Goal Review

Things got a little crazy, so I never posted my November goal review. I technically have three reviews to do in this post, so I will try not to make it too confusing. I missed more things than I would have liked on a monthly basis, but I think I did okay for the year. More details can be found behind the cut.

--Earn 30XP a day on Duolingo. Try to complete one "topic" a day.
---No days missed in November or December. For the year, I only missed one day of Duolingo. I didn't do so well completing one topic a day, but I'm still pleased with my progress.

--Practice French and Polish twice a week, practice Hawaiian, Esperanto, and German once a week. I might change this later, but for now I will keep this format in hopes of making progress on all five languages.
---I stuck to my schedule in November and December and for the whole year.

--Complete 15 units in French (Unit 17 of Section 8), complete 10 units in Polish (Unit 3 of Section 4), complete 5 units in Hawaiian (Unit 30 of Section 2), complete 5 Legendary units in Esperanto (Unit 30 of Section 2), complete 5 units in German (Unit 6 of Section 3).
---I completed this goal!

--Purchase a gym membership (completed Jan 3). Go to the gym at least twice a week. I expect this one will need an adjustment period, since this is new this year and the time commitment is going to be tricky to figure out.
---I did not go to the gym in November or December. I have cancelled the membership, since I don't seem to get much use out of it. On the whole, this wasn't a very successful goal, but I did manage to go to the gym for a few months near the beginning of the year.

--Do yoga every day except Mondays. However, if I don't do yoga on a day I go to the gym, I'll be okay with that.
---9 missed days in November and 14 days missed in December. For the year, I seem to have missed between 4 and 7 days most months, with my track record getting worse as the year went on. I'll have to work fixing this in the new year.

--Make a weekly post on Thursdays and make the Comfort Corner posts on the first third and fifth Sundays of the month.
---2 missed weekly posts in November, 3 missed weekly posts in December; all Sunday posts made. For the year, I missed one Sunday post, I missed 14 weekly posts and was late on 9 posts.

--Cook once a week. I may need to try making things to freeze, so that I can have more variety in my meals and can stick to this goal better.
---I cooked weekly the last two months, with the exception of Christmas. I did fairly well with cooking this year, even if I still want to figure out a better/healthier way of cooking in the new year.

--Do the dishes Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays as well as after any cooking or baking I do.
---I missed 6 days of dishes in November and December. For the year, I think I missed between one third and half of the days. This is not ideal but is about standard for me. I'm hoping to improve in the new year.

--Water daily and weed weekly during the growing season (May to September probably).
---Many days were missed in the summer months. I need to improve this next year.

--$X/week in savings.
---Done in November and December!

--Donate to charity once a month. Create the list by January 15. (List created Jan 2)
---Done for November and December.

--Read one book a month. Make a list by January 15. (List created Jan 2)
---No book read in November and December is hanging by a thread. I've been very under the weather today, but could still potentially finished my book. For the year, I have read 18 books, 19 if I finish my current one. I'm rather happy with this total all told, and November is the only month where I didn't read a book. I have read a whole bunch of fanfiction though, so some reading was still being done.

--Play flute once a month.
---In November I played songs from my Pirates of the Caribbean book. In December I played songs from my Band Favourites book. I managed to practice my flute every month this year.

--Participate in at least one bingo fest. Tentatively, the Valentine's fest looks most promising, though a few others look intriguing as well.
---No fests done in November or December. I made some fills for the Games and Entertainment bingo in July. This didn't go as well as I hoped, but I seemed to be lacking creative inspiration this year.

--Work on old bingo cards.
---I did not manage to work on any old bingo cards. I think this will be my focus next year, instead of trying to make new cards.

--Finish socks. (Done in May)
---I finished my socks! They look really good and they fit and I'm so happy I finally finished them! :D

--Do one knit or crochet project. I have several ideas for this, so hopefully I can achieve this early. (Done in March)
---Over the course of November and December, I made 15 dishcloths for my family as Christmas presents. I made many projects this year, even if some of them didn't use up a whole lot of yarn.

--Get one colour of fabric cut for my quilt.
---Unfortunately, I did not make any progress on my quilt this year.

--Join one crafting class. A local art store offers options, so hopefully I will find something that catches my eye. (Done in September)

--Complete one puzzle. (Done in August)
---Only one puzzle got made this year, though a few did get started and abandoned.

--Take one "me" day a month. Hopefully I can plan these better this year and actually get more benefit out of them.
---I took a day in November, but did not take a concentrated day in December. Next year, I'd like to better plan this out so that they are effective recharge days and not just "I did nothing today" days that I notice after the fact.

--Go rock climbing or do a ropes course. This might be one I can do with my sister, which will make it extra fun. (Done in July)
---I did one ropes course this year, but when rock climbing multiple times. Definitely a fun goal.

--Do one outside activity a month.
---In November I went for a couple walks outside. For December, I visited two local holiday lights displays. I managed to do at least one outside activity each month.

--Answer DW comments as I get them. Answer 5 per weekend to clear any backlog that may accumulate.
---This one did not go well. I need to make more effort to answer comments as they come in and not push them off until later.

--Fill in wall calendar with all recurring goals by January 15. (Done Jan 2)

--Improve inter-personal and intra-personal skills. I don't have a plan for this yet, but this feels like a weak area to me and I'd like to shore it up.
---I did not manage to do anything for this goal this year. I will re-think it for next year.

--Determine whether finding a new therapist or other mental health professional would be beneficial. Make a plan with concrete steps to improve at least one slice of the Circle of Life.
---I did not find a new therapist, and I did not make my own self-improvement plan. For next year, I think I will focus on self-improvement, as I don't currently think I need a professional to assist me.

--Mark daily tasks as they are completed. Write a monthly goal review at the end of each month.
---In November and December, I did poorly at marking tasks as I completed them. I did better at this earlier in the year, so I'll have to focus on this next year. A few of my monthly reviews were later than planned, but November was the only one I missed entirely.

--Do one seasonal activity each season.
---I went skating in December. I was successful for each season and I enjoyed this goal enough to keep it for next year.

--**--Random fun activity for November: I went rock climbing in November. In December, there was skating, holiday lights, and Christmas festivities. I like having this open ended space for writing down fun things I've done, so I think I will keep the idea for next year.

Overall, this was a good year, but I do need to concentrate on keeping up with yoga and tracking my progress as I go. I hope you all had a good 2024 and 2025 treats you well!
