April Monthly Goal Review

April was a good month. I did a lot of fun things, although I'm not sure how well I did on keeping up with my goals. For a detailed look at more progress, peek behind the cut.

--Practice one language a month on Duolingo. French, German, Polish, Hawaiian, and Esperanto, then repeat.
---I practiced Hawaiian in April. I finished the course, along with a few "legendary" units!

--Complete 14 units in French, complete 8 legendary units in Polish, complete 6 units in Hawaiian, complete 8 Legendary units in Esperanto, complete 15 units in German.
---I completed 6 units in Hawaiian. Success for my yearly goal!

--Do yoga every day except Mondays.
---Only 6 missed days this month, which is definitely an improvement.

--Do at least one 30 days of yoga challenge.
---I did not do this in April.

--Take one walk a week.
---I got in one walk a week in April, with a lot of walking during my vacation.

--Make a weekly post on Thursdays and make the Comfort Corner posts on the first third and fifth Sundays of the month.
---I missed two out of four Thursday posts, but I made both of my Sunday posts. :)

--Cook once a week. I'd like to focus on healthier meals and ways to give myself more variety throughout the week.
---I cooked something every week, except the week when I was in Nashville.

--Do the dishes Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays as well as after any cooking or baking I do.
---I missed two Wednesdays, but I did the dishes on the Tuesdays of those weeks, so it evens out.

--Water daily and weed weekly during the growing season (May to September probably).
---I did not start watering the plants yet, but I have done two bouts of weeding and I swept the driveway. There is more I will need to do soon, but it is a decent start.

--$X/week in savings.
---Success in April, though I have a feeling I may need to pause on this soon (boo for bills to pay).

--Donate to charity once a month. Create the list by January 15 (done January 10).
---Done in April.

--Read fifteen books. Make a list by January 15 (done Jan 1).
---I finished the book "The Last Dragon on Mars." I enjoyed it a lot and thought it was quite well written. I believe there is also a sequel, which I may look at acquiring. I started the book "Someone Like You," though I have not yet finished it.

--Play ten flute songs a month.
---I played eight songs from my "Pop Hits" book this month, though I unfortunately ran out of time to play the last two. I got two separate practice sessions in though, so that's something.

--Work on old bingo cards.
---No progress yet, though I have made two bingo cards for the May Color Fest at [community profile] allbingo.

--Finish the baby blanket I'm working on.
---Once again, no progress here.

--Crochet a shawl by end of March.
---Another area with no progress.

--Get one colour of fabric cut for my quilt.
---I haven't yet made time for this one.

--Complete one puzzle. (Finished in April)
---I finished my eagle puzzle! Having the week off from work really helped with this goal. I had a lot of fun putting the puzzle together. :)

--Take one "me" day a month. I'd like to plan these out this year so that I can make the most of them, rather than falling into them sideways.
---I took a me day during my Easter shutdown. It was a very lowkey day and consisted mostly of working on my puzzle, reading, and watching the Stanley Cup playoffs. It was a much needed re-charge day.

--Go to an amusement park.
---Not quite the right season yet, though I do have plans for this one at the end of June.

--Do one outside activity a month.
---I had a nighttime fire in my backyard after watching the sunset by the water. I also spent a lot of time walking around and sightseeing outside in Nashville.

--Answer DW comments as I get them. Answer 5 per weekend to clear any backlog that may accumulate.
---I did okay answering comments this month and my backlog has not gotten any bigger.

--Fill in wall calendar with all recurring goals by January 15.
---Done January 13.

--Work on one slice of the Circle of Life. Have a plan by the end of January.
---I would like to work on my self-esteem, but I still have not formed a plan or done anything to work on it. I can see this being a goal I struggle with, although I'm not sure how to improve it.

--Mark daily tasks as they are completed. Write a monthly goal review at the end of each month.
---I've been more diligent with marking daily tasks, although I do sometimes forget until the next day or the day after. This monthly review will be posted within two days of May starting, so I'm very happy with that.

--Do one seasonal activity each season.
---I continued spring cleaning in April. I burned my pile of things that needed to be disposed of (finally!) and I did some decluttering. I went through most of my bedroom and I did underneath my dresser downstairs. I still have more work to do, but seeing as how I ended up with two bags for donation and one for trash, I'm happy with my progress so far. I also found a few things I had misplaced, so that was a very nice bonus.

--Have a maximum of four coffees a week. I'd like to keep an eye on my caffeine intake, so I figured this would be an easy way to start.
---I managed success this month! I did have an espresso at Easter dinner on Saturday which was technically over the limit, but it was a very small cup with no milk or sugar in it.

--**--Random fun activity: I went to Nashville for my sister's 30th birthday! We went to a hockey game, a fantastic show at the Grand Ole Oprey, went to the Country Music Hall of Fame, and had a lot of good food. It was a fantastic trip and I had a great time.

April was a very fun month and I did alright on my goals although I would have liked to make more progress on some of them. Hopefully May will be better for some of my long term goals.
