Comfort Corner Picnic
It's picnic time!
The backyard is spacious, with a patio up front, gardens around the borders, and a tall wooden fence for privacy. The patio has a table, a swinging bench, and a handful of chairs, all equipped with cushions for padding. The yard is soft grass, perfect for going barefoot. There are lawn chairs for sitting, as well as a basket of blankets and pillows in case anyone wants to sit on the ground. The fence has been stained a dark brown and is covered with garden decorations, outdoor art, and pictures painted right on the fence.
For anyone needing a break from the outdoors, there is a sunroom looking out on the backyard. There are floor to ceiling windows, some of which open the catch a breeze, and pale pink curtains that can be drawn, either for privacy or to block the sun. The floor here is hardwood, for easy cleaning, with area rugs under the three couches scattered about. There are a few chairs as well, for anyone who doesn't like sharing seats, cushions for making nests and forts, and of course a basket of pillows and blankets.
The sun room is equipped with a bookshelf, a box of arts and crafts stuff, and board games. The coffee table has a spread of finger sandwiches, chocolate chip cookies, tea and lemonade.
In the yard, there is a basket of toys including balls, jump ropes, and hula hoops, among other things. There are a few umbrellas around for creating shade, and there are gardening tools tucked off to the side. On the table there are more finger sandwiches, a bowl of potato salad, chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies cut out to look like baskets, iced tea, and lemonade. There is also a wicker basket with a red and white checker blanket containing fruit, sandwiches, and cookies; this is a picnic after all!

* It's still early, just starting to get light. I gather up a lawn blanket and a couple of pillows, kick off my sandals, and head out into the yard. The grass is cool, and lightly covered in dew. I walk slowly and let the soft blades slide between my toes. At the back of the yard, I spread out the blanket along the edge of the garden - close enough to smell the array of flowers, and hear the sounds of the various pollenators as they start their busy day. I stretch out on the blanket facing towards the east, ready to watch the sun rise through the trees.*
It's a big blanket - anyone who's also up early is welcome to come curl up and watch the sunrise with me. =]

* After a very long day at work, I get back to the picnic. With only a few moments to spare, I grab the blanket and pillows again, and head out to the back of the yard. I spread out the blanket, situate myself in a comfortable position facing the west, and invite my friend

We had an actual thunderstorm here today. Definitely doing that late spring thang!

Ooo! We had a thunderstorm here yesterday. I stood out on my back porch for awhile, just enjoying the storm. Hopefully the one in your area didn't do any damage.

There's a tune about that. Betsy Tinney: Gentle Storm (No words, just Betsy on Raven the Cello, with a looper...)

Ooooo, I'll have to give that a listen, I like music :)
