Comfort Corner
The carpet is thick, soft and cream coloured, while the walls are a yellow bronze colour. In the corner along one wall there is a large sofa, able to seat 4 or 5 people comfortably. Along the other corner wall there is a smaller sofa for 2 or 3 people. In the middle of the furniture, there is a low, round coffee table, perfect for colouring at or for other craft activities.
There is a scratching post and a cat tree for climbing, which are both along the wall opposite the couch. A few fluffy beds have also been put out, in varying sizes, in case any one prefers the floor. There is also a large sturdy perch and a marked off area that says "Landing Pad" in case any winged friends want to visit.
There is now a blue chaise chair in the nook as well, which has been placed near the couch and is good for both sitting and spreading out lengthwise.
There are two baskets off to the side. One contains fuzzy blankets, a variety of fuzzy and textured pillows, and a collection of stuffed animals while the other contains a variety of art supplies, ranging from colouring pages and blank paper to crayons and coloured pencils, and more besides.
Happy New Year everyone! This is the first Comfort Corner of the new (and hopefully better) year. For anyone who is new to this, this post is a virtual space where you can come hang out with online friends, take a break from life, get some virtual cuddles, or just talk about your week with someone to listen. Feel free to join in, or just watch from the shadows, all polite behaviour is acceptable :)
In addition to the normal goodies, today there are leftover holiday cookies, Lindor peppermint chocolates, Quality Street chocolates, tea and hot chocolate, and some new board games.

That done, she settles in to work, waiting to see if anyone will come and visit, either for crafting or cuddles or even games.

Pretty puts her supplies on the coffee table, and then goes to grab stew and pie, and then goes to flop back down, herself.

Hey! You can come join me if you want. We used to know how to do a little tiny bit of calligraphy bodily when we were in elementary school, a grand total of one letter, and we never had the proper pens. Our wife knows it, I think, at least some, so I figured I'd ask her to teach me. I'm sure it could be done with a raised drawing board, which is a thing that does exist. It's basically metal mesh stretched in an 8 1/2 by 11 wood frame. When you draw on a sheet of paper put in the frame, the mesh causes the picture to come out raised on the other side. It's pretty cool and actually really inexpensive to buy. It also doesn't require any special instruments. Just a pen or pencil and any paper thicker than standard notebook paper will do nicely.
But yeah, I'm kinda crafty in my own right, and think learning a new way to write would be fun, even if I'd have to do it upside-down so that it'd come out right on the drawing board. Hmmm. That might require some thought.
Oh! That reminds me! ininbounces out and comes back with a yummy plate of chocolate chunk cookies for the food table, and a large tub of assorted jerky, all separated out and labeled with the kind of meat and whether it's hot, mild, sweet etcddinin

That's really neat about the calligraphy, I've never attempted to do anything like that before. That mesh board sounds really cool, although I think you may need to write backwards, rather than upside down.
Being crafty is cool, and writing in a new way seems like a good way to persue that. I tend towards things like knitting and crochet when I'm crafty.
Ooo! Cookies! *takes a few cookies, and some mild jerky*
Thoughts
In addition to coloring, flourishes are good practice.

Hi hi!
Izzy lugs shoulder bag with laptop, sketchbook/ideabook, this and last year's writing calendar, red and black calligraphy pens, and cellphone.
Adds self to group at the coffee table with waves hello and warm smiles, plops down on the rug. Pulls a cushion from her bag, tucks it under her tailbone.
"I brought shortbread, potato chips, and tea. It's one of THOSE DAYS."
Puts arm into shoulder bag all the way to the shoulder, groping around much further than she should be able to. "Got this bag from my English Aunt Mary. It's a gift from the gods. Tea?"
Izzy brings out a steaming teapot and ☕☕☕☕ hooked over her pinky, some biccies, and a tea cozy for the pot.
Re: Hi hi!
"Oo, tea and shortbread! Yes please to tea. Sorry to hear it's been one of THOSE days. I hope this helps."

*Rummages in Aunt Mary's bag for kitty friendly treat*
Hello kitty!
* Puts plated treat closer to kitty if kitty wants it*
Angel peeks her head around the door
She also wonders if there is a quiet corner to perch and watch the proceedings to see if/what she wants to do.
~Angel
PS: *She waves at Fuzzy J* Hi, friend!
Re: Angel peeks her head around the door
There is the corner with landing perches, though it may be a little busy for you right now. There are also couches with corners good for cuddling in and watching, and plenty of pillows amd blankets for making forts or nests in any unoccupied part of the room.
*waves back at Angel* Hello friend!
Re: Angel peeks her head around the door
*walks by the table, takes a bowl of stew and a piece of shortbread then wanders over to the pillows and blankets and grabs supplies to build a fort over by the closest corner couch to watch the proceedings around her*
Re: Angel peeks her head around the door
Enjoy your people watching, I hope you enjoy your stay! (And that came out a little more tour-guidey than I meant it to, but the sentiment is sincere.)
Re: Angel peeks her head around the door
I felt the sentiment behind it :)
And my people watching was fun.
(I frequently feel like I people watch in big family gatherings. I'm just a little wallflower and I always have been.)
Re: Angel peeks her head around the door
:) I'm glad you had a good time.
People watching can be fun. I don't do it so much myself (I'm kind of bad at reading people), but I do tend to hang back and just be, rather than interacting when it's a large group.
