(A Late) Weekly Update
So, I should have posted this Thursday but I didn't feel like writing it up, and I was lazy yesterday too. April has been a funny month, not a lot of motivation, and only about 16 or 17 days where I got all of my daily tasks done. I had a few nights where some unresolved feelings from the past smacked me over the head, but I was able to talk it over with a friend and I think it helped. There's probably still going to be some sadness and heartache, but I think the guilt and the majority of the regret has been dealt with.
It was an average week, most of the dailies done, with the exception of the dishes on Thursday. I also didn't post a recipe this week, because I couldn't decide on one. Instead, I just made some linguine, stir fried chicken, stir fried broccoli, mushrooms, leeks, and peanuts, and a garlic herb white sauce. I also made some Midnight Brownie Cookies, and I may still type up that recipe, since it's from the book my mom got me for Christmas. They were also delicious cookies and well worth making again.
My Emotional Awareness goal for April was to work on relationships, mostly in the form of deciding who I wanted to keep close contact with, and who I was okay with being more distant. I got a schedule set up, but I didn't do great actually following it. I'm going to try to keep to it in May and the coming months, and adjust it if I find it's not working. The goal for May is "taking time to relax" and I already have some days marked down to take for myself, so it's looking promising so far. Now I just need to figure out what "fun and whimsical" thing I want to do this month. XD
I'm working afternoons this week, so food will be chicken wraps, and I'm hoping to get caught up on some housework. There are other things I'd like to get done as well, but that will depend on how much brain power and energy I have. And since this rightly should have been the last update in April, I will put my progress on my New Year's Goals below.
I did all the yoga, and 12 out of 13 skipping days, with a decent walk on the day I missed the skipping.
I've done Duolingo every day, and am slowly making progress towards re-acquiring both the Hawaiian and French Golden Owls. I'm also making progress on Esperanto, but I have further to go there.
I finished April's Emotional Awareness work, and have made a start on the plan for May.
I only did the dishes on time 5 out of 9 times, but I did do them the next day twice, so it sort of counts as 7 times.
I did all the cooking, and I posted the three recipes that I made from cookbooks I have.
I posted both Comfort Corners, but only three of the weekly updates went up on time; one posted on a Friday, and the last one is posting today.
I've started planting some seeds and watering my garden. I need to do the weeding again, and I need to set up a schedule for the weeding and watering that will make sure my garden is healthy and tidy all summer.
I did a bunch of work on entries early in the month, but I'm still woefully lacking in keeping up with how much work I wanted to be doing for that goal.
I managed to still to my two personal goals 20 out of 21 days, so I'm very pleased with that, and I'm hoping to keep that up next month.
I made my savings goal twice, exceeded it once, fell short once, and missed it entirely once. I'm not too worried about it, because I knew I'd miss at least one of them this month, and I still managed to put an extra $1000 down on my mortgage this month. My yearly raise happened this month, and we got a cost-of-living raise just last week, so my savings goal should be easier to meet from here on out. There has also been some overtime offered at work again, and that makes everything easier too.
I finished my April book, which was "Spinning Silver" by Naomi Novik, and I enjoyed it immensely. It is a spin (heh) on Rumpelstiltskin and very well done. I made a head start on my May book as well, which is "Last Chance Cafe" by Linda Lael Miller. It's alright so far, but we'll see how it goes. I do like romance novels, but their shine has worn off since I've learned to be a little more critical of my reading material. Hopefully this is one of the less crappy ones.

I may actually read a book or two soon. Carrying the Fire by the recently-late Michael Collins, and a couple books by Gerald Weinberg on leadership in the tech field.

Oh nice, it's always good when you have time to read and do a few leisure things.
