Sleepy weekly post
It is probably past my bedtime but I still wanted to get this up. It's been a pretty decent week; work was mostly okay, I did about 4 rounds of gardening, I got much of my daily things done, and I'm nearly caught up with my temperature blanket. I had a therapy appointment this Monday, and apparently my counsellor was right about checking things off a list being motivating. I started off checking off my daily tasks and adding stickers if I did them all, but I got lazy about it and stopped checking things off. I was still doing things, but I wasn't as good about getting everything done. Since the appointment though, I've made a point of checking things off and I've made 4 days in a row doing everything now, so I'll have to remember that it is worth it to take the time to check things off, at least for me.
My garden was a bit of a mess, since it's been quite a while since I did the weeding. My aunt gave me some comeflowers to plant, but I needed to make space for them first, and since I can't set my yard on fire, I had to go out and pull a whole whack load of weeds. It's looking much better though, so I'm happy with that.
I've been watching a lot of Bob Ross, because he's awesome, and this post is taking me forever to write because there is an episode where he has a guest doing a portrait. It's a fascinating process and I haven't seen it before so it keeps grabbing my attention. The guest isn't as nice to listen to as Bob, but it was cool to see his style of portrait painting.
Do any of you have go to shows or videos for soothing vibes or pretty eye candy? Do you like art or crafts, or do you prefer nature or history or something fictional? Do you like music better, or perhaps you have something else that works for you when you need calm. I'd love to hear what works for you, if you'd like to share.
Have a truly wonderful weekend my wonderful friends. :)

Bob is great. =]
I have 2 go-to’s when I need some calm, and they’re as different as night and day. The first is a daily thing that helps shed the built up frustration from work, etc, and that’s listening to very loud, and what some have described as very angry music. Might sound weird to some, but singing (shouting) along with the lyrics, drumming on the steering wheel, and otherwise drowning out everything around me on the ride home really helps put me in a better frame of mind after a long day.
Quite opposite to that, I really love the outdoors, especially natural areas away from people and machines and technology. Got a path that disappears into a wood lot? I’ll spend a couple hours following it just to see where it might go. Got a nice flat rock near a waterfall? I could lay on that rock and just listen to the sound of the water, smell the trees, watch the birds fly by. Unfortunately days like these are few and far between - although because of that I think I appreciate them even more.

Yes he is :)
Both of those methods seem like they have situations where they would be useful. I'm glad you've found things that work for you, even if you don't have as many quiet days as you might like.

This is actually a nice post to circle back to. I tend to spend far too much time reacting to stressors (the loud music for example). I think I’m going to follow in the footsteps of a very wise friend of mine, and start working some “me” time into my life. =]

Personal time is always good. And being able to prepare for or prevent stress events and situations is always better than having to react in the moment, though not always possible.
