Weekly Update

It's the first Thursday in January, and I'm making my post on time! My year has been off to a good start so far. Work hasn't been too ornery, though I would much prefer still being on vacation. I've been productive(ish) around the house and in general doing things that need to be done, and my goals/resolutions are working out well so far.

Coming up, I would like to finish going through my cookbooks so I can make a meal plan, if not for the whole year, then at least for the next couple months. One of the hardest parts of home cooking for me is having to decide what to make each week, so I'm hoping that by doing that in advance, it will be easier for me.

I also need to work on the updates, work on the scarf I started, and maybe get out into the garden and take care of some of the dead detritus. All in all, pretty good so far, and I'm hoping this pattern continues.

I decided to start looking at poetry forms that I could use for my Fresh Starts Bingo Card, and decided to keep track of the links here. All of these are from ysabetwordsmith's most recent Poetry Fishbowl post, though I went through the "100 Poetry Forms" and picked the ones I liked/thought I might be able to do.

I oopsed a poem

Summer Blanket

Pick a colour,
start a row.

Middle of summer,
pick a colour.

Something brighter or something duller
for today's tempetature to show?

I really did mostly oops this poem. The first two lines hit me on the way home, and the third verse was mostly easy, but that third line took some work to get. I think it works though.

So, the creativity kept flowing, and I wrote a Quatern for the "starting a capsule wardrobe" square on the Public Activities Card for Fresh Starts Bingo Fest.

Four Fresh Colours
a quatern

It's time to get dressed for the day,
trying out a new colour scheme.
Black, grey, maroon, and lavender;
let us see where the day will lead.

A shirt and a skirt get picked out;
it's time to get dressed for the day.
Silky maroon and darkest grey,
the rest awaits another day.

The shirt goes first, long flowing sleeves.
Then the skirt, falling to her feet.
It's time to get dressed for the day,
blood red earrings finish the look.

As the closet closes for now,
she sees the lavender and black
waiting patiently for when next
it's time to get dressed for the day.
