They certainly are different, which makes interacting challenging sometimes. Ya, their view of work and procedures doesn't always line up with things that are easy, or even feasible, for production workers. It can make for a lot of friction in the work place, as everyone tries to do their job. A friend gave me that term, originally as a joke I think, but it fit so well I decided to keep it.
