Weekly Update
Aug. 14th, 2025 06:09 pmThis week has been better for the most part. I have the beginnings of a plan, so hopefully I will feel less overwhelmed soon. I think it will involve more time budgeting and it might not help much with the social things, but if the to-do list is managed better, maybe I will have more energy for social stuff.
The weekend was really good. I had a lot of fun at the wedding and my sister's party on Sunday was also really fun. We made cookies, bracelets, and slime, among other things. I was up a bit late on Sunday, so day shift Monday was not so much fun. I haven't had great sleep this week, so I'm looking forward to sleeping in this weekend.
For goals, I got some weeding in, missed a day or two of yoga and dishes, I read a few chapters from my book, and I've been keeping up with Duolingo. Since I'm on days this week, my friend and I will be hanging out in the evening tomorrow, which is always fun. I have a few social things planned this weekend, so I'm hoping I can sneak in some relaxing time around all the people.
Coming up, I want to read more of my book, finish my flute practice and get in the garden some more. I'm feeling a bit more optimistic about accomplishing things, so hopefully that translates to results.
I hope you all are doing well, have a great weekend!

It's Thursday
Aug. 7th, 2025 03:45 pmHi everyone :) This week's post might be a little different than normal, since I've been feeling a bit out of sorts lately. I did have a good weekend that just passed; it was a long weekend and I spent lots of time with my boyfriend as well as having plenty of time to relax and flop. This weekend, I'm going to a weekend with my boyfriend, which should be fun and my sister is having a get together that I'm really looking forward to. I also get to have lunch with my good friend tomorrow, which is always a nice thing. :)
Everything has felt like a lot lately and I'm not sure how to deal with it. Social interactions seem to take so much effort, my to-do list seems forever long, I have so many things I *want* to do, but I seem to have no energy for anything. I'm finding it hard to budget my time appropriately and switch from one task to another, even if I'm switching between two fun things. I'm not sure where to go from here, but it feels like I need to figure out something, because the status quo is not super great.
Hopefully in the next few days I will have a bit of energy for the small things and everything else will find a way to sort itself out. I hope you all are doing well, talk to you again soon! <3

Aug. 3rd, 2025 11:01 amThe carpet is thick, soft and cream coloured, while the walls are a yellow bronze colour. In the corner along one wall there is a large sofa, able to seat 4 or 5 people comfortably. Along the other corner wall there is a smaller sofa for 2 or 3 people. In the middle of the furniture, there is a low, round coffee table, perfect for colouring at or for other craft activities.
There is a scratching post and a cat tree for climbing, which are both along the wall opposite the couch. A few fluffy beds have also been put out, in varying sizes, in case any one prefers the floor. There is also a large sturdy perch and a marked off area that says "Landing Pad" in case any winged friends want to visit.
There is now a blue chaise chair in the nook as well, which has been placed near the couch and is good for both sitting and spreading out lengthwise. There are also two armchairs; one an oversized, deep gray leather chair, the other a square fabric armchair in deep blue with light purple swirls on it.
There are two baskets off to the side. One contains fuzzy blankets, a variety of fuzzy and textured pillows, and a collection of stuffed animals while the other contains a variety of art supplies, ranging from colouring pages and blank paper to crayons and coloured pencils, and more besides.

July Monthly Review
Aug. 1st, 2025 01:20 pmJuly was a fun month, although I did feel like I didn't have enough energy for things a lot of the time. I especially notice this with social things, but it also crops up when I have a long list of chores to get done. I think I still did alright on my goals though, so look behind the cut for more details.

Weekly Update
Jul. 31st, 2025 11:11 amThis week was a pretty good one. I had lunch with my good friend yesterday, since Friday was not available this week. I also did fairly decently with chores this week; all my dishes got done and I managed to get some weeding done, although I have been avoiding the sun because of my sunburn. I also did my flute practice this week. I played through my Shrek book this time, which was fun but also challenging, since I play those songs this amd they are a little more involved. I had fun trying them though, which is the important part.
I didn't manage to work on any of my secondary goals this week, but I did finish another unit in German. I'm not sure where that compares to my yearly goal, but I will have one more month to finish more unuts if needed. I also chose a different book last night, so I'm going to see if I can get into this one. The one I have started sounds interesting, but it really hasn't caught my eye lately so I'm gonna try switching it up.
I have a few fun weekends coming up and I'm hoping to get the motivation to start working on my other goals again. A co-worker recently said that motivation comes from discipline, but I'm lacking both, so I still don't know where to go from here. It would be nice to work on my puzzle or some of my fibre crafts again.
I hope you are all doing well and you have a great weekend!

Weekly Update
Jul. 26th, 2025 01:58 pmThis one is a little late, but Thursday was super hot and frustrating, then yesterday was busier than expected. It's been an okay week overall, if a bit on the warm side. I've managed to do my Duolingo and most of my yoga, but reading fanfic is still consuming most of my time. I'm not very good at separating what I want to do from what I need to do, or even switching between two tasks I both enjoy. This unfortunately means that there are a lot of things that I've been ignoring lately and I'm not quite sure how to fix that.
Last weekend I went camping with my boyfriend and we had a great time despite having a holey air mattress the forst night and a bit of rain the second night. We got to the beach and did a lot of walking though, and spent quality time together, so it was a very good trip. Yesterday I had lunch with my good friend and my boyfriend, which was very nice since we don't get to do that too often.
Coming up, I'm going to a rodeo tomorrow with my boyfriend and I'm going to try to get into the garden to do some weeding. I really need to focus on getting back on track this week and trying to make progress on more of my goals.
I hope everyone is staying safe in this weather and you all have a fabulous weekend!

Weekly Update
Jul. 17th, 2025 04:00 pmHello everyone! This week has been mostly decent, although I have been very low energy and tired, and work has decided to oscillate between okay and very annoying. The weather has been very hot, so I haven't done any weeding this week. I did manage to get and water the flowers, and everything seems to be surviving okay. I may need to make a shade cover for one of my hostas though, it looks a little sun burnt.
I've kept up on Duolingo, cooking, and dishes this week, although I did miss one day of yoga. Last weekend was fairly relaxed and Sunday was spent hanging out and playing games with my boyfriend. This weekend, we'll be going camping, which I'm really looking forward to.
I need to make time to get back to reading my book, and I need to practice my flute so that I don't accidentally forget it this month. I also really need to make time to reconnect with some friends, although I seem to have had very little social energy lately. Another thing I need to look into are ways to motivate myself. There are a few things in my life I'd like to change, but all of it feels like to much effort and I don't know how to go from wishing things were better to actually taking action to make them better. Something else for my to-do list, I suppose.
I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe in this weather. See you again soon!

Weekly Update
Jul. 7th, 2025 04:11 pmHi all! This is a very late weekly update, seeing as it's Monday and I have missed three or four posts at this point. I do like making my weekly posts, and I'd like to continue with them, but I've been feeling a pretty big social and creative drain lately. I'll try to get better at sticking to my schedule, but sometimes it feels like a whole lot of work. I also need to make my June Review post, but that will have to wait until at least tomorrow.
The last month has included a lot of fun things, including a pool party, a trip to a provincial museum and an amusement park, two weekends of Carrousel of Nations -a festival showcasing International foods and cultures,- relaxing time with my boyfriend, and some lunches with my good friend. The museum and amusement park in particular were a lot of fun and it was a wonderful long weekend spent with my boyfriend. :)
Another exciting thing that happened in June is that I completed a 30 Days of Yoga challenge. :D I'm really proud of doing this because I didn't miss any days for the whole month, even the ones when I was out of town. I also finished the French course on Duolingo and I've made a bit of progress weeding and reading some books, although not as much as I might wish.
I've spent a lot time recently watching YouTube videos by neurodivergent people, especially those with autism, and I'm more certain than before that I'm some kind of atypical. I'm not certain if it's autism (although that is still my leading guess), but it definitely seems to be something. I suppose an official diagnosis is unnecessary, since I don't need/want medication and I seem to get by okay without any external support, but some additional resources might be nice. I'll need to go hunting and see what I can find that I could adapt for my own use without needing medical advice/referrals. I may also need to look into seeing a therapist again, because life is once more overwhelming and having someone to talk to and offer coping strategies may help me process things.
All in all, life is going pretty well and I'm looking forward to what July brings. I hope you all are doing well and you are staying cool in this heat. See you next time! :D <3

(Early) Weekly Post
Jun. 4th, 2025 11:44 pmHi everyone! This week has been pretty good. I've made very good progress on Duolingo, I've stayed on top of the dishes, I played pickleball and tossed around a volleyball, I hung up some art that I've had for a while, and work has not been ridiculous.
Coming up, I have lunch schedule with my good friend, which is always wonderful. I'm going to volunteer at a local art fair this weekend, then walk around after and some friends have a gathering planned for later that night. Sunday involves a potential dinner out on our (hopefully) newly finished/refurbished patio. I'm also hoping to get some weeding done soon and read some more of my book, but we'll see how things play out.
I feel like I had more to say, but I can't remember what at the moment. I hope you all are doing well, have a great week!

Weekly Update
May. 29th, 2025 09:06 pmHello everyone! This week has been a good one, although I feel like I haven't gotten a lot of things done. I've read a lot of fanfic, I've done a lot of Duolingo, and I managed to keep on top of the dishes, but it feels like most other things fell to the wayside. I still struggle to find a balance between everything I want to do, but I am happy with what I accomplished this week.
On Friday, I hung out with my good friend in the evening, which was very nice. It's rare that we get to do that, but I was on day shift so everything worked out. Saturday was fairly low-key. I mostly did chores, but I also played Pandemic with my friends and we won the month of July, so that was very nice. :D On Sunday, my sister hosted an "Amazing Race," with tasks around our part of the town that were meant for walking. I ended up paired with my sister and we did more running than expected (I never run and my stamina sucks), so I was sore the next day but I has a lot of fun. She's done a couple different versions of this now and they are always a good time.
I am making decent progress on my yearly goals, although some are lagging further behind than others. I got a suggestion for changing the format of them for next year, since I was complaining about not having enough time to do everything I wanted, as well as having time to just relax. I think for next year (or possibly later this year), I'm going to try to split my goals into quarters. There will still be some goals that span the whole year, but I'm going to try to assign goals such as "knit this" or "do a puzzle" to a specific time of year so that I have less things to focus on. I don't know if it will work, but I'm willing to give it a try and see what happens.
One of the goals I routinely struggle with is my gardening goal. I dislike weeding but I do enjoy having a garden. So far, I have done decently with weeding and watering the garden, although I will need to weed again soon. My sister and I planted some flowers this year, mostly perennials, so the front garden will be fuller and we won't have as much to buy and plant next year. A fun fact that I hadn't really realized before: lettuce is perennial. At least, we have a type of lettuce that has been growing in our garden since we bought the house and we don't do anything to replant it year after year. It is nice having lettuce in the garden to pick though, and it's pretty low maintenance. :)
I'm also contemplating trying to find a therapist again. I feel like I could use some help finding coping and communication skills, although I don't feel nearly as out of my depth as the last time I had a therapist. I'd also like to talk to someone who has experience with neurodivergent people. I have no idea if I'm just quirky, if I fall in the range of "typical," or if there is something different about the way my brain functions. I'm not too concerned about this, since it doesn't interfere with my life, but I'm wondering if there are additional strategies and aids that would make things simpler if I had something more concrete than "different."
An outside opinion would be helpful, since I don't know the range for "typical" and "atypical" and I'm wondering if I'm seeing things that aren't really there, since I've been watching a lot of neurodivergent creators on YouTube recently. I haven't decided if this is something I want to pursue yet, but it's definitely been on my mind.
I hope you all are doing well. I hope you have a fantastic weekend, see you again next week!

Pool and Weekly Update
May. 23rd, 2025 07:02 amFirst, this week I'm hosting a pool for
ysabetwordsmith's half-price sale this week. The details can be found in my previous post, but the pool will be open until late Saturday night and I'm hoping to focus on the Shiv thread, if anyone wants to join in. :)
The rest of this post will probably be less coherent than normal. I've been finding that I'm really tired lately and that's making it hard for me to find the motivation to post and the spoons to organize my thoughts.
The last two weeks have been good. I practiced my flute, made progress on Duolingo, did a bit of weeding, didn't entirely fail at doing the dishes, and I read one and a half books.
Mother's Day weekend included flower shopping and planting, a Mother's day brunch at a nice restaurant, and some shopping.
Last weekend was a friend's birthday party -fun but socially draining-, a trip to a car show and dinner at a winery. It was a fun with, with a lot of cool cars. :)
Coming up, I'm going to hang out with my good friend, get some chores done this weekend, then maybe participate in my sister's amazing race. Hopefully I can get some sleep and see if that fixes some of my problems.
Have a good weekend everyone. :)

Signal Boost and Polychrome Heroics Pool
May. 20th, 2025 06:03 pmThis week,
ysabetwordsmith is having a half-price sale in Polychrome Heroics. If you'd like to buy some poetry, take a look! I'm also planning to run a pool, if anyone would like to join in.
A pool lets us combine funds, so everyone can take advantage of the quarter-price discount, which leads to more poetry! Anyone who wants to join in can name a target, or you can choose to chip in on the targets below. If you would like to join the pool, you can leave a comment here and I will give you my PayPal info for sending money. Late on Saturday, I will close the pool so I have time to collect all the funds and send them along to ysabetwordsmith.
If I have enough interest, I would like to purchase one of the three giant Shiv epics, or open one for microfunding if there is a good start but not enough to buy it outright. If there is not enough interest, I have two other Shiv poems in mind instead.
Giant Epics
"The Release of Human Potentialities" $568 (q.p. $284) OR
"Shopping for College" $639.50 (q.p. $319.75) OR
"The Bones of Chihuly" $618 (q.p. $309)
Cheaper Options
"The First Swath Cut by the Scythe" $106.50 (q.p. $53.25)
"So Monumental and Still" $162 (q.p. $81)
Let's buy some poetry!

Comfort Corner
May. 18th, 2025 10:15 amThe carpet is thick, soft and cream coloured, while the walls are a yellow bronze colour.

Weekly Post
May. 8th, 2025 12:28 amIt's been a good week. :) I went to a Jo Dee Messina concert on Friday with my boyfriend. It was a fantastic concert and we had a great time. :) The weekend was spent hanging out, doing a bit of shopping, and getting some relaxing in.
I haven't done a lot this week towards my goals, but I have managed to keep up with the daily ones for the most part. I did finally finish the trim on my blanket! I also untangled and rewound two skeins of yarn, which was an exercise in persistence, patience, and frustration. I've definitely learned my lesson for next time though: if I have a "twisted skein," I need to wind it into a ball before using it, rather than simply untwisting and trying to work from the loop. That went about as well as trying to pull the end of an extension cord free, rather than unwrapping it fully. O.o
Coming up, I'm going to do lunch with my good friend, which is always lots of fun. My sister and I are taking our mom out on Mother's Day, though I'm not sure for which meal yet. I'm also going to try to start on the deer for my blanket this weekend so that I can finally finish that project.
I hope you all are doing well. See you next week!
