2025 Goal Review
Jan. 1st, 2026 01:13 pmIt is 2026! Time for my 2025 Goal Review, although my tracking fell by the wayside, so some of this will be based just on guesses. All in all, I don't think it was a bad year, although I definitely didn't hit as many goals as I would have liked. For a detailed look at 2025, look behind the cut!
--Practice one language a month on Duolingo. French, German, Polish, Hawaiian, and Esperanto, then repeat.
---I practiced the intended language each month. I may change this in 2026 because I now have only one active course on Duolingo (German).
--Complete 14 units in French, complete 8 legendary units in Polish, complete 6 units in Hawaiian, complete 8 Legendary units in Esperanto, complete 15 units in German.
---I completed the units in French, Polish, Hawaiian, and Esperanto. I made progress in German but I failed to track units completed for the last two months of German, so I'm not quite sure if I hit all 15.
--Do yoga every day except Mondays.
---I wasn't great at tracking my yoga practice so I don't know exactly how many days I missed. I have a feeling I'm hovering at about 2/3 of the days done though. Not great but not horrible either. I will try again in 2026.
--Do at least one 30 days of yoga challenge.
---Without looking at my monthly reviews from earlier in the year, I'm not sure whether I completed this goal or not.
--Take one walk a week.
---I did alright in the spring time, but I quickly lost focus on this goal and I know I've missed many walks in the second half of 2025.
--Make a weekly post on Thursdays and make the Comfort Corner posts on the first third and fifth Sundays of the month.
---I did alright with my Sunday posts, although I did miss two or three by mistake. I did poorly with my weekly posts from September onward, and I missed some before that as well. I may need to reconsider whether weekly posting is something I can or want to do.
--Cook once a week. I'd like to focus on healthier meals and ways to give myself more variety throughout the week.
---I did well with cooking most of the year. I missed a few weeks, but most of those centered around holidays that yielded a lot of leftovers.
--Do the dishes Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays as well as after any cooking or baking I do.
---This was a bit of a disaster. I think I probably hovered between 1/3 and 1/2 for most of the year on this goal. Some months were better, so I may be closer to 50%, but I definitely missed a lot of days. Dishes, thee art my enemy. XD
--Water daily and weed weekly during the growing season (May to September probably).
---I did okay with the watering early in the season but tapered off the later into summer we got. Weeding happened more on a monthly basis sadly, which is less than ideal. I'll have to find a way to stay more on top of things in 2026.
--$X/week in savings.
---I was able to hit this goal every week, including the time of year that has the heaviest expenses, so I'm very pleased with that.
--Donate to charity once a month. Create the list by January 15 (done January 10).
---I donated every month. For 2026, I may look at giving more each month, and/or narrowing my focus to fewer charities so that they get more help. Currently I choose a new one each month.
--Read fifteen books. Make a list by January 15 (done Jan 1).
---I read 17 books this year! I enjoyed all of them and I'm pleased that I was able to go through a little bit of my backlog.
--Play ten flute songs a month.
---I played my flute every month, but I think I missed the goal of 10 songs on a few of them. I would like to continue practicing more in 2026 so that I can improve my skills more.
--Work on old bingo cards.
---I did not do this one this year, I just didn't find the inspiration to write.
--Finish the baby blanket I'm working on.
---I finished the border but have not made the animal that goes in the middle. I didn't end up with much passion for fibre arts this year, for some reason.
--Crochet a shawl by end of March.
---I started but never finished my shawl. This is another project that got neglected due to lack of interest.
--Get one colour of fabric cut for my quilt.
---This got ignored again this year, sadly.
--Complete one puzzle.
---I believe I finished three or four puzzles this year, which makes me happy. :) I have new ones for 2026, but I think the backlog of old ones is low.
--Take one "me" day a month. I'd like to plan these out this year so that I can make the most of them, rather than falling into them sideways.
---I did not pay attention to this one throughout the year. Around summertime, I think I fell out of the habit of block off a day just for me. I would like to get back to it, since these days do help me cope with everything else.
--Go to an amusement park.
---I did this with my boyfriend in July and it was a lot of fun!
--Do one outside activity a month.
---This is one I stopped tracking early on as well, although I do think I made it outside at least once most months, even if it was just to walk around the neighbourhood.
--Answer DW comments as I get them. Answer 5 per weekend to clear any backlog that may accumulate.
---I wasn't the best at answering comments in a timely manner, and I didn't often deal with my backlog. Replying seems to take a lot of energy for me, or I at least build it up in my head as a big task and it tends to fall by the wayside. I will try to be better about this in 2026.
--Fill in wall calendar with all recurring goals by January 15.
---Done January 13.
--Work on one slice of the Circle of Life. Have a plan by the end of January.
---I did not do anything with this goal and I will be rethinking it in 2026.
--Mark daily tasks as they are completed. Write a monthly goal review at the end of each month.
---I did decently well in the first half of the year, then fell completely off the band wagon. I'm not sure why I stopped marking the daily calendar, but once I did, I never really got back to it. I also stopped doing the monthly reviews, partly because they are a lot of work, but partly because they kept slipping my mind.
--Do one seasonal activity each season.
---I went skating in December, I did a fair bit of spring cleaning, I went horse back riding in the summer, and I raked leaves in the fall. I didn't plan anything for fall, but raking leaves is definitely a seasonal thing and I raked a whole bunch of them.
--Have a maximum of four coffees a week. I'd like to keep an eye on my caffeine intake, so I figured this would be an easy way to start.
---I had middling success with this goal. Before September or so, I did alright, maybe only missing one week or having one or two extra coffees. From September on, I went a little overboard and had a coffee almost every day, sometimes two in a day. I'm hoping to curb this habit in 2026 because I would like to avoid a caffeine dependency and the empty calories I consume. The problem is, the hazelnut cold brews are delicious and I haven't found an adequate substitute as of yet. Something to look at in 2026.
--**--Random fun activity: I added this in because I noticed fun things kept popping up. It wasn't a requirement, just somewhere to log the fun things. I think it did pretty well and I had a lot of fun this year, even if I didn't accomplish as many goals as I would have wished.
All in all, 2025 was pretty good for me and I'm hoping 2026 is even better. I hope you all are taking care and you have a fabulous new year, whatever it may hold for you. =D <3 <3
