I left this post until too late, so my brain is mush and the format is going to be piece meal and less coherent than normal as I simply modify my earlier rough notes.

I knew English was a giant word thief, but some of the "English" words I use surprised me when I learned they were actually stolen from other languages. Example of one I learned only recently: angst is actually German for anxiety (I knew this English word, but didn't realize its German roots; and one I learned a while back, that is also German, shmutz, meaning dirt. And there are probably a million other examples I missed but I brought it up because I'm very familiar with the word "angst" from fiction and fan-fiction in particular, but I never knew it came directly from German.

As it is now June, I started working on my temperature blanket. I have the first two squares done, and they look pretty good so far. In the next week or so, I will write up the template for the pattern I'm following, so it will be available if anyone wants it. And in that same vein, when I type up the instructions, would using American stitches or British stitches be better? (The book I have uses the British, but my grandma uses the American. Same stitch, just a different name.)

This week was okay. Nothing exciting happened really, though my dad did come over on the weekend and help me trim my lilac trees and the mountain ash tree. The ash tree had some big dead spots, so I'm hoping cutting those branches will help it next year. I did most of my daily tasks, though I bailed on the skipping yesterday; I just couldn't find the motivation to do it. Good news: I got all the stickers for May! So now I can sit down and buy myself some art. I have a reward from earlier that I forgot to cash in too, so I can get double the art. :D Yay!

Another thing that happened this week was that I had my first therapy appointment. So far, the counsellor I ended up with seems really nice, and I'm hoping she can help me straighten some things out. I'm still a bit apprehensive about the process, but the first appointment went fine, so I'm a little less worried now. We'll see how it goes.
