It was so awesome watching the piece develop and see what could be done. I also got to watch the creative process happening, because partway through the master smith came in and said, "What if we try forge welding it?" Now, it didn't work out, because it's a tricky process apparently, but it was super fun to watch and the blacksmith that was making the piece still managed to complete it and have it turn out okay, if not quite how originally intended.
It's always amazing to see a topic expert go, "Hey, what if we try this?" Even if it doesn't work out, the possibilities they see, and how they make the leaps dazzles me.
