I looked it up. Fringed dishcloths exist -- mostly woven but a few knit or crochet. You're making multiples, right? You could make one with fringe, test it, and if it doesn't work well, choose a different finish for the others. I'm kinda thinking that fringe might be good for getting into hard-to-reach spaces.
