Bingo Fill: Set Boundaries

This poem fills the "Set Boundaries square on the 3x3 Solo Public Card for the Valentines Bingo Fest.

Drawing Lines

Boundaries can be tricky, ephemeral things.
Everyone's will look different but all are valid.
For some the line might be here, for others, there.
For one this topic is off limits, for another, that one instead.

Finding that line between "enough" and "too much" can be hard,
but the soul searching is worth it, to be able to say,
"This is okay, but this isn't," and to have enough conviction
in your needs and desires to defend your lines.

So go ahead, set those boundaries,
draw the lines that will keep you, and others, safe,
and never feel bad if yours come out different than anybody else's.

Also, I tell people, if you're wondering about someone, set a small boundary. If they stomp over it, and especially if they get defensive if you call them on it? Bring the hammer, because they will not respect your big boundaries.

That's a good way to deal with things, and a way to help prevent yourself from getting hurt badly. Although personally I sometimes find it can be hard defend the small boundaries *because* they are small, and I have a habit of going, "Well, it wasn't *that* big of a deal..."

I mean if they get called and go "oh, I'm sorry" and actually try to get better about it, that's one thing. If they blow you off? Blow them off. Completely. Tell'em Mama Bear said so.

*hugs* Not trauma necessarily, but definitely a combination of influences growing up and a people pleasing nature.

Yes, that would be a prudent thing to do.
