>> I also worked on the shawl I started, although I've only managed one row so far today. <<
Hey, I'm working on a shawl, too. Got the pattern as a random-draw prize in a December yarn-along I kibitzed and entered contests in. The designer selected for me has a lot of shawl patterns. After I went through the non-shawls and only found a pair of socks and a top that interested me, I decided to see what I could find in shawls.
I run warm enough that I don't need a shawl for warmth, so I poked around for something I liked the look of, not really having anything beyond the experience of knitting finer yarn on larger needles in mind. Got started on it, found the work interesting, and am still going strong. About halfway through the third of the main body charts, which is about 2/3 of the way out from the center -- except the rows get much longer as I go. I'm working a row with 240 stitches, and the last row has nearly twice that many.
It didn't hit me right away, but I had just returned from a weekend fiber arts show where I had worn things I'd made and built outfits around -- and gotten lots of compliments on my work and outfits. And that got me realizing that I was actually creating wearable art for the next time I do this. And that's really cool by me.
I'm doing it in a lavender that works well with my complexion and wardrobe. Somewhat darker than the color in the image, but not too far from that.
Funny coincidence, that!
