Pork and Beans Bake
May. 10th, 2021 06:05 pmTonight I made a Pork and Beans Bake from the Tasteofhome Contest Winning Annual Recipes 2010 cookbook.

Thoughts and Variations
I bought a 4-pack of boneless pork loin chops, but I have no idea if they were the specified size; they looked pretty average to me for pork chops. I wanted to use a Granny Smith apple, but the store still doesn't have any, so I used to small Royal Gala apples instead; I think they worked well. I used two 14-oz cans of beans, one plain and one with pork (because that one was already in my house). I eyeballed the cinnamon, maple syrup, and salt, but I think I got the proportions pretty close, because nothing was overpowering but all the tastes were present.
This was an easy dish to prepare. Not much messing about, just some chopping and sauteing, and then waiting while it baked in the oven. The apple, cinnamon, and maple syrup make it a sweeter dish, but I don't think it was too sweet. Everything baked down nice and soft, and it was almost like having applesauce mixed in with the beans and pork. I was a little worried about the raisins, because I don't like them much, but I couldn't really taste them so that was okay. All in all, this is a nice way to prepare pork chops that is different than normal, and a side dish is already built in. I'm going to have to remember to bookmark this one to make again.
