Weekly Post

Gack. My brain is melting, probably because this was my twelfth day of work in a row. I have tomorrow off (although I am going to see a cousin for her birthday in the evening) but I am working Sunday. I really wanted a two day weekend, but double time pay was too much to resist. And, next weekend is a long weekend so I will have three days off. (I'm gonna need it.)

I haven't done much this week, though I have managed modest totals on duolingo. I am trying really hard to do some now, and hopefully I can do a bunch Saturday, because first place is only 3600XP right now, and I will kick myself if I don't get the achievement this week. (I honestly don't care that much, but this is probably one of the best shots I'm ever going to have.)

Afternoons next week, so I'm hoping to sleep in some, do a little bit of editing, maybe a little crochet, and generally just recover my brain. We'll see how it all goes, but I have high hopes that it will be alright.

Also, I am going to make a concerted effort to reply to the comments sitting in my inbox. I promise I haven't forgotten use guys, and I do appreciate all comments that are left, I just don't always have the brains or spoons to reply. Perhaps I can do some of that tomorrow.

On the plus side, I seem to be having an easier time with thinking French phrases, just little shit here and there but it is happening mostly without thought. And I've noticed that I've picked up a few words I didn't know before, and am seeing words used for purposes I didn't know they could be. (Although that last point has be wondering how common the usages are, and if I'd sound like a ninny in front of a native speaker.)

Thanks! I'm going to try real hard, but if I don't, there is always next week. On the plus side, trying for this achievement means I am using duolingo more, so in theory my language skills are getting better.

I'm finally getting to that point in Duolingo Hebrew, that I translate both the literal meaning and the use meaning, at the same time.

I know some things in lots of languages, but I can't tell you when or how I learned those things. 🤷📚🧐😄

That's pretty cool. I run into trouble in French sometimes, because instead of writing down the proper translation, I write down the colloquial translation (probably not as accurate, but seems similar enough to me that you wouldn't lose anything in translation (I think)).

Oh! Randomly acquired knowledge is cool, especially when it is language related.

Sadly I don't think I'm making first place this week *again*, but I had a wonderful day today with family and did get some stuff done, so I'll take that trade off. There is always next week, and I'm still making progress on the languages, so that's the important bit.
