So last year I made myself a set of New Year's resolutions (see review here) and it actually went decently. This year I feel more comfortable calling my list "goals" rather than "resolutions", but it is a list of stuff that I want to get done in 2021, some short term, some on-going. I snagged an idea from [personal profile] ysabetwordsmith's post on resolutions, so many of my goals actually line up with improving the balance of my Wheel of Life. If you want to set some goals or resolutions this year but don't know where to start, I highly recommend checking out ysabetwordsmith's post, because it has a plethora of links, and quite a few good ones.

--I would like to be healthier and more in shape, and my spirituality could use a boost too. So I'm aiming for doing a yoga session every Sunday, and jumping rope for 10 minutes three times a week (Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.) I'm starting small in the hopes of being able to follow through, and because doing *something* is better than just sitting on my couch. It also leaves me room to do more if I find myself easily meeting this goal.

--Related to being more in shape: go rollerblading at least once a month from May to September.

--Knit a pair of camo mittens for my Dad.

--Use at least one ball of yarn from my current (overflowing) stash.

--Meet my daily goal of 30XP on Duolingo.
->Sub-goals:
-->Get a Golden Owl (complete the skill tree) in French, Esperanto, Hawaiian, and Polish
-->Bring French and either Esperanto OR Hawaiian to level 5 in every skill
I may be biting off more than I can chew with this set of goals, because that is a LOT of work, but I like languages and I don't want them languishing, so having something to aim for is good. Also in here, actually try to converse in French with people. I know I got an offer for practise last year that I let slide, so I'd like to give that an honest try this year, if that person is willing.

--Work on emotional awareness, coping skills, and self-improvement. To this end, I am going to take the month of January to make a concrete plan for doing so, giving myself ONE thing to work on each of the remaining 11 months. I'm hoping that making this goal more specific will lead to better success than I had last year, and make it less likely that I just brush it off.

--Do the dishes on Mondays and Thursdays. Of course, I may end of doing them more frequently than that, but I have a strong dislike for them, so two days a week is non-negotiable, in the hopes of them not piling up over a week or more. *Looks sideways at the kitchen sink*

--Cook dinner weekly. [personal profile] conuly has created [community profile] cookbook_challenge for those of us that need a little more accountability and have a bunch of saved recipes and unused cookbooks to get through. I marked my official commitment there as at least three recipes a month, so that I have a bit of wiggle room as needed, but I really want to try for once a week. As said above, I'd like to be healthier, and eating better is part of that, plus I don't like paying to eat out all the time.

--Take a class. Preferably in person, but if this doesn't seem feasible by July, I will start looking for online classes instead.

--Post a weekly update on Thursdays, and continue to make the Comfort Corner posts on every first and third Sunday. I'm hoping that giving myself a firm day for the weekly post will make it easier to do, and I like Thursdays for that purpose. I would also like to make a special post on any fifth Sundays this year, since I didn't do so with that in 2020.

--Consistently water the garden this summer. Weed twice a month, or more often if possible. Look into some plants that I wanted to add and seriously consider whether I want to add an extension or not (it would make my yard more coherent and also easy to mow.) Keep on top of trimming the things that need trimming.

--These next five goals are all related to making updates for [personal profile] ysabetwordsmith's writing website. I made my goals differently this year than last year, so I'm hoping for more consistent (and ultimately just *more*) progress.
->Update 1-2 threads under the serial tab per month.
->Get the backlog of Polychrome Heroics stories in my inbox down to 10 and keep it there as much as possible.
->Finish the Broken Angels thread by the end of June.
->Update 1 unpublished Polychrome Heroics thread every 1-2 months.
->Possibly tackle the Shiv thread again, to make it more complete? This is a monster, so it may not get done, or might be lower priority, even though I love the thread.
Now, all of this is based on my personal progress, so it might not match up exactly with the website. I write up all of my entries on DW under the "Private" tag, because I find it easier. Once I have them written, they get put on the sample page for Ysabetwordsmith to edit and review when she has time. Since both of us are very busy people and our schedules might not always line up, I'm judging this goal based on what I manage to write up, rather than what actually gets posted to the website.

--Ask grandma about making a quilt. My grandma made me a quilt when I was young and I still love it, but it is getting worn out and old, and is also smaller than my bed. She has a beautiful quilt in her home that I admire a lot, so I want to see if maybe we could make a new one for my bed together. I know her wrists are arthritic and she can't do all the things she used to, so I'm hoping asking her teach/guide me will make it easier for her. This entirely depends on being able to go to a fabric store though, and if she is actually able to teach me, so there's a lot of uncertainty here.

--I have two personal hygiene goals that I don't feel comfortable sharing, but I do have them, so this is just a line to note that they do exist.

--Save X dollars a week and/or put down X extra dollars on my mortgage. I'm not shy about money, but I know this can be a touchy topic so I've left actual amounts out, but I did still want to record my savings goal.

--Creative goals:
->Make a bingo during an [community profile] allbingo event
-->Bonus points: get a blackout bingo
->Finish my current puzzle (which was started last Christmas) by the end of January
->Start and finish by paint by number (also from last Christmas) by the end of May
->Start my new puzzle by March
->Start the Diamond painting I got this Christmas sometime in June

--Read one paperback a month. I am amassing a HUGE backlog of books and I read very few last year, so I would really like to do more reading this year. (Although based on word counts from [personal profile] dialecticdreamer I read roughly 24 novels online in 2020, so there is that.)

Additional goals:
--Try to make plarn, and then use it.

--Donate a little to one charity every month.

--Make a temperature blanket of some kind, probably in the summer.

And if you made it to the end of my giant list, congratulations! I'm happy to talk about any of my goals, or anything in general, so don't hesitate to drop a comment or a PM.
