This week's discussion is going to involve kink, so if that's not your thing, you might want to skip this one.

I greatly enjoy reading stories that involve kink, especially ones with a Dominant/submissive (D/s) dynamic. I am not choosy when it comes to what pairing is involved in the D/s relationship, but Clint\Coulson is a particular favourite. Both of them are naturally very competent, so it doesn't seem far fetched that they would have that kind of relationship.

Typically Coulson is written as the Dom and I do really enjoy it that way. He is an amazing handler and the quiet kind of badass that will have you on the ground and neutralized almost before you even know he is there. It makes a lot of sense to me that he would like being in control in the bedroom and he would be totally kick ass at any kink he was into; as safe as is possible and ruthlessly competent. On the other hand, the stories where Phil is the submissive still ring true to me because I can see how he might also want to let go at home after having all that control at work.

Clint is a little harder for me to understand but the way I usually read it is that Phil is the only he trusts enough to let go with. He can show his soft side to Phil and know he won't be taken advantage of. He doesn't need to be strong if he doesn't want to, because Phil will take care of him. On the other side, he is strong enough and competent enough to be Phil's dom, to be the one doing the caring and protecting. Plus, that aim would be great for impact play :D

On writing this, it occurs to me that both characters have aspects of both dom and sub in them. There is enough of each to make either believable and yet, I can't recall a single story where the two of them are switches; someone who can be dom or sub, depending on the day, feelings, etc. Perhaps it's something in the characters that gives the impression they would stick with just one? They do both come across as stable and solid, so maybe being a switch wouldn't ring true to character? I could totally see it though, Clint has a terrible mission where nothing went right and needs Phil to sooth him and help him let go of it, then Phil having a miserable day at the office, needing to hunt down seemingly the entire base for missing paperwork and just needing some time at home where nothing is his responsibility. And now I really want a story with switch!Clint and switch!Phil.

Do you like reading kink? Do you have a prefered dynamic or pairing? Do you have a different opinion about Phil and Clint? Did I miss something or get a characterization wrong? Do you want to see switch!Clint and switch!Phil too?
