Holiday Half-Price Sale

The Holiday Half-price Sale for ysabetwordsmith is now live! I will be running a pool this time, and I have some holiday cash to spend, so I'm hoping to get a good amount of poems this time around. Anyone who joins the pool with me will automatically get the quarter price discount, so if you see something you want but couldn't afford before, now is a great time to go shopping. My main interests lie in Polychrome Heroics, but there are other thongs I like and I'm more than willing to chip in to help someone get what they want. I will have a general list of targets below, to be updated properly once I'm awake enough to actually check the prices and see where I'm at budget-wise. As always, if you can chip in at least some money, you are free to suggest a target of your own, even if it's not on my list. Or, if you like a poem I've chosen, you can sponsor that one and I will relocate funds as needed.

Bear in mind that "A Desire to be Deeply Known" is unlikely to get funded at full price, and won't always be included in half-price sales unless there's another Mercedes poem available or the single ones really add up. If it's of interest, you might want to nab it while you can.

I am working on finalizing targets now, and will send all funds and the monster list of poems probably around dinner time here tonight. I think I'm going to end up sending the poems in an email though, because the list is massive and I don't know if paypal has a character limit on messages.

I will be back home Tuesday evening and can take a more thorough look then, but here's the general shape of what I'm planning.

Pending consideration of the arts budget, I will likely pick up all of Army of One, Aquariana, Iron Horses, and Mid-Life Crisis. Plus a bit more to open up "A Desire to be Deeply Known" per ysabetwordsmith's recommendation.

I will firm up details and confirm the pledge amount once I don't have to type on a tablet.

I've got a set of targets that matches fairly well with your lists, so I'm in.

My main targets are An Army Of One, One God's Story, and Monster House, followed by Iron Horses, Berettaflies, Shiv and Aquariana.

After those, I have no complaints about helping out with the rest of your targets either.

Awesome! That sounds wonderful. If you give me a list of targets, I'll make sure we get those first, thwn distribute the rest accordingly, unless you have a specific request. If you need my paypal again, just PM me, and I'll send it to you no problem.

That was my list of targets, in roughly that order. :D I meant all poems in each mentioned section (there's only one or two poems in each of them). I think the only one you didn't already have on your list was the Monster House one. :)

I don't have any specific request for the rest, so yes, please distribute accordingly - and if someone else nabs any of my targets, that's fine too, just redistribute as you wish.

I might be offline for a little while (family celebrations and such), so I've gone ahead and sent you the money. If you didn't get it, let me know.

Got back from my trip, which was quite enjoyable for the event-related aspects and sightseeing, marvelous for being able to renew acquaintances in person with a large number of friends, and far surpassed even my most optimistic expectations on the personal front. And then I get back and discover that edorfaus is making a significant buy that intersects with my interests, and ysabetwordsmith's folks stepped up and covered a big chunk of my stretch targets!

So here's what I'm proposing. I'm going to designate $132.25 of my pledge to buy out the Aquariana, Berettaflies, Iron Horses, and Strike of the Thunderbirds poems, plus the miscellaneous Polychrome Heroics poems and the stand-alone poems. Then drop another $67.75 on top of that to open "A Desire to be Deeply Known", which will make it an even $200. I'm also sponsoring a December Fishbowl poem that I prompted, so that's probably all I'm good for.

Perhaps better, though, if those don't get marked off right away -- especially the small stuff in the miscellaneous piles. I'm hoping to encourage others to sponsor some of those, in which case the money I don't have to cover can be added to the opening amount for "A Desire to be Deeply Known".

Can we make that work?

No specific targets were given, she just said that my target list looked good and any of them was okay. I'm going to sit down right now and figure out exactly what the pool can get with current funds, and then I'll let you know some options I'm thinking of for those funds.

So after some number crunching and writing a truly spectacular list of poems, I have a tentative plan. I was able to get my targets of Arts and Crafts America, Daughters of the Apocalypse, and Pain's Gray. I am also going to pick up the other Mercedes poem so it doesn't end up orphaned for the forseeable future.

I was thinking of taking half of what janetmiles donated and half of the remainder of Edorfaus' cobtribution and putting those towards "A Desire to be Deeply Known." If I chip in the rest ($54.50), we can finish that poem entirely and there is still $116.25 left in the pool, plus at least another $130 from me, potentially much more if we have any goals in mind.

I was thinking of finishing off The Steamsmith because there is one poem left, and then possibly also clearing Not Quite Kansas and the Darrow poems. Altogether that would total $65.25, which still leaves at least $180 to play with.

I'm sort of at a loss of where to go from here though, so I'd love to hear any thoughts you have. I'm leaning towards starting on Trichromatic Attachments, or possibly finishing off the open epic, but we are so far beyond what I planned that I'm really easy going at this point.

The pool, and ysabetwordsmith's folks, have really gone nuts, in the good kind of way. We're not going to completely clean out the list, but we've made a huge dent in the backlog.

I like the idea of picking up the remaining Steamsmith poem and the Not Quite Kansas ones. ysabetwordsmith's folks already sponsored the Darrow poems, and one or two of the others that were on my cleanup list. So you will need to check the sale page for the current status before you do your accounting.

I would vote for starting Trichromatic Attachments. Everything else I was most excited for has been covered, and I would prefer to start a new storyline.

I will send the $200US along soon, so you can build the target list and close the pool. Don't know whether you have special stuff scheduled today or tomorrow, but I don't want to delay your settling the pool if you do.

Thank you! I did see the Darrow poems got posted, although I didn't see them crossed off on the sale page. I will definitely double check before sending everything on, and I think I'll go as far down the Trichromatic Attachments series as I can comfortably get.

No, Mom and Dad bought last year's batch of Darrow Poems. This year's batch is still available. Dad likes standalone stuff but I didn't want to empty the short offerings for this year, so some of their stuff is older.

Glad I could help. Basically I went to last year's holiday sale for most of the short stuff, then filled in from this year. I think I only took one sub-epic from the current sale.
