I found more success than anticipated with last year's format of setting goals rather than resolutions, so I'm going to do that again this year. I had a lot of repeating/continuing goals last year and I found that putting everything onto a desk calendar and using stickers if I finished all the tasks in a given day helped a lot. It gave motivation to do the icky things and is probably the main reason I got as far as I did. I will be repeating that method again this year, and have in fact already filled in the calendar to the best of my knowledge for 2022 (there are some things that have a degree of uncertainty about them and some that just didn't work on the calendar). Here's hoping for a successful and goal-tastic 2022!

My goals can actually be broken down into the categories "daily," "weekly," "monthly," and "yearly," with the last category being used as a catch-all for any one time goals. I will list my goals in that order, so that there is at least some kind of organization going on with my massive set of goals. And now, the list:

--Meet Daily goal on Duolingo (30XP/day)

--Water garden daily from May through the first week of September

--Do the skipping Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday; currently 8 minutes a day, get to 10 minutes a day by year end

--Yoga every Sunday

--Find and do exercises with free weights, once a week starting in April. Starting this goal in April gives me time to do research and not throw everything right in January, so hopefully I won't miss as many days in the beginning. (I had this happen with yoga last year and I'd rather avoid that this time.)

--Do at least one lesson a week in French, Hawaiian, Esperanto, and Polish on Duolingo. This is in addition to/alongside the daily goal, in an effort to actually learn more than just one language. All four of these languages have been in varying states of progress for at least a year, but I haven't been very good at working on more than just whatever is easiest for the daily goal. Hopefully this goal will help me spread out the learning and avoid leaving languages to languish for months at a time.

--Do the dishes on Mondays and Thursdays. I may need to add a third day to this, but we'll see how things go.

--Cook on Mondays. I still want to eat as healthy as possible, so making my own food is a good step. The only difference from this year and last year is that I won't be making nearly as many new recipes. Perhaps once I figure out some favourites and easy repeatables, I will look into trying recipes from different cuisines.

--Weekly update posts on Thursdays, and Comfort Corner posts on the first, third, and fifth Sundays.

--Personal goals that I don't want to give the specifics of but want to acknowledge as existing. Mostly for the purpose of helping me track when I last did things so I don't forget.

--$X into savings account weekly. I tried to make this number realistic this time, but I might still have to revise it downwards if I overestimated again.

--Weed the garden once weekly (tentatively on Sundays) from May through the first week of September.

--Donate to charity monthly; have the list of charities finalized by January 15th.

--Read one book a month. Only actual paper books count for this goal and I do have a list of books to read, though as long as I read *something* I'm not going to be too strict about going in order.

--Rollerblade the first Saturday in the month from May to September. Now, this is going to be weather-dependent but I wanted to get more specific this year. Saying "once a month" last year left too much wiggle room to put it off, so I'm hoping a dedicated day will make it easier to accomplish this goal.

--Finish the downstairs puzzle by the end of January.

--Finish the upstairs puzzle by the end of February.

--Knit dad's mittens by the end of February. This was supposed to be done last year but wasn't, so I'm giving myself a deadline this time.

--Finish Diamond Painting by the end of June.

--Start a new puzzle (already in my possession) on or before July 1st.

--Use at least one ball of yarn; make socks. These goals are on the same line but are in fact two separate goals. I want to make my way through some of my yarn stash so I want to use at least one ball of yarn I already have. I also have a ball that says "perfect pair" which is supposed to be the right amount for socks that I want to use, but using that ball won't count towards the first part of the goal.

--Get French to Level 4 and Esperanto OR Hawaiian to Level 5 on Duolingo. I'm not sure if this goal is realistic, but I'm going to try for it again and see how far I get.

--Keep seeing therapist to work on personal things.

--Work on self-esteem, boundaries, self-care, coping skills, intimacy, privacy, commitment, and relationships. I don't have a plan for this yet, but I'm hoping to form one sometime in January.

--Take a class, online or in person. I'm hoping I can do an in person class this year, but we'll see how everything goes.

--Find a quilt pattern I like. I don't know if I'll actually make a quilt, but I would like to at least find a pattern I like in case I get that far.

--Related to the above goal, potentially find a crochet quilt pattern I like to make. My grandma tipped me to blankets that are crocheted that look like traditional quilts. I have a few saved on Pinterest so I might go through and see if one catches my eye enough that I actually want to make it.

--Participate in at least 3 bingo fests in the [community profile] allbingo community.

--Get a bingo; bonus if it is a blackout bingo.

--Try to make plarn. I have a crap-ton of plastic bags and I would like to do something with them. I didn't manage to do this last year, but I'm going to see if I have more success this time around.

--Make a set of crochet Christmas ornaments. Probably these are all going to be the ruffle-ball variety, but I might try some more creative ones if I have the time/inclination.

--X amount or more on the mortgage by the end of the year.

--Track progress for any repeating goals. I want to be able to assess my success more accurately this year than last year, so I'm going to endeavour to track how many days I miss on my on-going goals.

--Website updates for [personal profile] ysabetwordsmith. This goal was a complete disaster last year and I'm not quite sure how to fix it this time around. I do believe I will only be focusing on Polychrome Heroics for the foreseeable future, at least until I get caught up again. I also think I'm going to focus on writing up the poems in my inbox and that have been posted in the last year and a half, but again, I don't know how to frame this goal for success. Hopefully, I will figure this out in short order and can make some swift progress.

May the best of 2021 be the worst you have to contend with in 2022.

That's a fair list of goals. Good luck. I don't have any resolutions or goals as such, but as usual, have a long list of projects in various stages of progress. Here's to a better 2022!
