Comfort Corner

The carpet is thick, soft and cream coloured, while the walls are a yellow bronze colour. In the corner along one wall there is a large sofa, able to seat 4 or 5 people comfortably. Along the other corner wall there is a smaller sofa for 2 or 3 people. In the middle of the furniture, there is a low, round coffee table, perfect for colouring at or for other craft activities.

There is a scratching post and a cat tree for climbing, which are both along the wall opposite the couch. A few fluffy beds have also been put out, in varying sizes, in case any one prefers the floor. There is also a large sturdy perch and a marked off area that says "Landing Pad" in case any winged friends want to visit.

There is now a blue chaise chair in the nook as well, which has been placed near the couch and is good for both sitting and spreading out lengthwise. There are also two armchairs; one an oversized, deep gray leather chair, the other a square fabric armchair in deep blue with light purple swirls on it (Think this style except not grey).

There are two baskets off to the side. One contains fuzzy blankets, a variety of fuzzy and textured pillows, and a collection of stuffed animals while the other contains a variety of art supplies, ranging from colouring pages and blank paper to crayons and coloured pencils, and more besides.

Fuzzy J walks in and spreads out a blanket on the floor, grabbing a few pillows for extra cushioning. She pulls out her knitting, her flute and some music books, and a few colouring books, crayons, and coloured pencils. She's not quite sure what to work on first, but all of the projects hold appeal.

Yes, I'm not great at playing, but I do okay. You pick the tune? Something easy to start with perhaps?

I'm sprawled in the large chair, listening to the jam session while sipping something nourishing (= alcoholic).

Have you considered an accent wall, perhaps in a deep red? (Not trying to push my tastes on your comfort room, just a suggestion.)

I haven't really thought about it, but I do like the colour red.

APD shuffles in, arms like lead weights and back in knots from several hours of landscaping. On another day I would break out the sax and join the group for a melody or two, but today the blue chaise is calling and I have just enough energy left to get there and set myself up for a rest. A couple of deeply plush pillows and a glass of 8-year-old rye whiskey help maximize the comfort level (I brought the bottle if anyone cares to join me).

I hope you got the rest it sounds like you very much needed. Also, kudos on doing the landscaping, that can be a heck of a lot of work.

I didn't get done what I initially planned to do - I decided a different part of the project needed to be done first. Really pleased with the results though, so I'm glad I diverted.

And a long soak in the therapy tub (epsom salts, and jets on full blast) did wonders for the sore muscles. =]
