I took the day off today and managed to wake up early and get a good start on getting stuff done. I've gotten all the daily stuff done this week, although my Duolingo app stopped working and the website said I missed Saturday's lesson, which I swear I didn't. I've also kept up with the entries for Ysabetwordsmith, so that's really nice.

Having the day off was rather nice, and it gave me a chance to do some of the baking I needed to do for this weekend. I also worked on the shawl I started, although I've only managed one row so far today. I'm up to 8 rows out of 35, and crocheting a pattern that is 175 stitches long is going better than I expected. I did have to go out and buy two more balls, but they were on sale so it was only 10 bucks. The shawl is grey, light purple, and dark purple, with satiny yarn, and a sort of lacey pattern. I'm really pleased with it so far and looking forward to finishing it up. I was also able to finish the mittens for my dad and get them to him on Sunday which made me happy. :)

Illbe going up to visit friends this weekend, and I'm hoping to get in the garden and clear some dead stuff, as well as work more on my shawl. I really need to find time to finish up my puzzle but there isn't a clear easy spot to work on right now, so the motivation to work on it is low.

I also helped my sister dye her hair today, and I'm debating joining her and her husband for dinner, but I do still want to get more stuff done, so I'm not sure I want to give up that time. We'll see how things go I guess.

Wishing you all a fantastic end to your week, and a wonderful start to the next one.

Funny coincidence, that!

>> I also worked on the shawl I started, although I've only managed one row so far today. <<

Hey, I'm working on a shawl, too. Got the pattern as a random-draw prize in a December yarn-along I kibitzed and entered contests in. The designer selected for me has a lot of shawl patterns. After I went through the non-shawls and only found a pair of socks and a top that interested me, I decided to see what I could find in shawls.

I run warm enough that I don't need a shawl for warmth, so I poked around for something I liked the look of, not really having anything beyond the experience of knitting finer yarn on larger needles in mind. Got started on it, found the work interesting, and am still going strong. About halfway through the third of the main body charts, which is about 2/3 of the way out from the center -- except the rows get much longer as I go. I'm working a row with 240 stitches, and the last row has nearly twice that many.

It didn't hit me right away, but I had just returned from a weekend fiber arts show where I had worn things I'd made and built outfits around -- and gotten lots of compliments on my work and outfits. And that got me realizing that I was actually creating wearable art for the next time I do this. And that's really cool by me.

I'm doing it in a lavender that works well with my complexion and wardrobe. Somewhat darker than the color in the image, but not too far from that.

It is a nice color. I was at a costuming convention with spouse this past weekend. That's more their thing than mine, so I spent a good deal of time working on the shawl, to much admiration of the design and yarn color and feel.

Also Out In Public all the time, with more outfit love and some nice moments of gender recognition. Also likely a new nonbinary friend.

>> I'm glad you had something to do over the weekend <<

By way of clarification, just because it's more spouse's thing than mine doesn't mean there's nothing there for me. Multiple shows with awards (I won't call them "competitions", because many people enter just to show off their creative efforts, and an award -- no matter how significant -- is just lagniappe), where I enjoy seeing others' creativity. Also an occasional panel of interest; I think I did about three of those. And then many people spouse or I know to visit/share a dining table with. Still left plenty of time for project work.
