Comfort Corner

The carpet is thick, soft and cream coloured, while the walls are a yellow bronze colour. In the corner along one wall there is a large sofa, able to seat 4 or 5 people comfortably. Along the other corner wall there is a smaller sofa for 2 or 3 people. In the middle of the furniture, there is a low, round coffee table, perfect for colouring at or for other craft activities.

There is a scratching post and a cat tree for climbing, which are both along the wall opposite the couch. A few fluffy beds have also been put out, in varying sizes, in case any one prefers the floor. There is also a large sturdy perch and a marked off area that says "Landing Pad" in case any winged friends want to visit.

There is now a blue chaise chair in the nook as well, which has been placed near the couch and is good for both sitting and spreading out lengthwise. There are also two armchairs; one an oversized, deep gray leather chair, the other a square fabric armchair in deep blue with light purple swirls on it (Think this style except not grey).

There are two baskets off to the side. One contains fuzzy blankets, a variety of fuzzy and textured pillows, and a collection of stuffed animals while the other contains a variety of art supplies, ranging from colouring pages and blank paper to crayons and coloured pencils, and more besides.

For the winter season, there is a fireplace for warmth, extra blankets, pillows, and slippers, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate with all the fixings you could want (including Bailey's and Kaluha if you wish to make things alcoholic).

Today there are eggs and all kinds of craft supplies for decorating them, plenty of spring colouring pages and crafts to make, potato salad, paska, carrot cake, and Easter/spring themed sugar cookies. And now this Comfort Corner is different from all other comfort corners, and properly equipped for those who are celebrating their release from bondage in Egypt.

Thank you for bringing in the goodies :) I only have experience with Easter myself, and mostly from a secular perspective at that. I'm happy to have a more inclusive corner now :)

It was. We had some other friends over this evening, and managed to kill off the leftovers. Not to worry, we have more stuff to make and enjoy.

As you mentioned in your other comment here, it has been a while! I'd been wondering what you were up to; hoping it was just life happening, and glad to see that was pretty much what was up. Life is happening over here, too, and I'll gladly share as much of it as you let me know you're interested in.

Probably just colouring pencils. I don't do much that would be considered "visual arts", so I've never really explored any different media beyond that. I'm much more likely to design physical things - like the blanket pattern I did last night - rather than do artistic drawing (creativity that satisfies my linear brain).

That came from a song I wrote a few years ago, and shared with redsixwing in response to a prompt for things to draw (Inktober?). The inspiration for the song was that a local dining space that had recently gone through a number of unsuccessful restaurant startups had just rebranded itself again in step with the local trend where many "Beer Garden"s were coming into existence. I thought, "A vegetable garden has plants that produce vegetables. A flower garden has plants that produce flowers. Shouldn't a beer garden have plants that produce beer?"

I can post lyrics/music or a performance mp3 if there is interest.

Looking forward to seeing things when they are colored. At which point I will likely ask whether I can use it as the background pic when I put it up on Soundcloud.

* Ambles in after a long day of household tasks, and a very filling birthday dinner with family. Stretches out in front of the fire with a cup of tea, and wraps up in a soft grey blanket. From the craft supplies basket, selects some graph paper plus a pencil and ruler. *

Going to spend a bit of time tonight designing the pattern for the blanket I'm planning to crochet over the summer. But there's still plenty of room for a late-evening cuddler or two. If the drawing gets in the way I'll set it aside... Priorities. =]

The basic layout is complete. I was just out yarn shopping and I'm pretty sure I've picked my materials. I just have to do the math to see how much to buy. I think it's going to come out really nicely.

I decided several weeks ago to crochet a blanket. I spent a fair bit of time searching for a pattern that I thought I would like. What I ended up finding was a picture of an area rug that I *really* liked - very geometric and very cool.

From that picture I created a scale drawing (I like to design stuff from scratch). Now that I have a template, I'm in the process of figuring out the finer details.
