January Goal Review
Feb. 2nd, 2026 03:29 pmHere is the Janiary goal review. I think I'm off to a good start so far, but there are a few areas I could improve in. For a more detailed examination, look behind the cut.
Yearly Goals
-On Duolingo, complete 15 units in German, 5 Gold units in Polish, and 5 Gold units in Hawaiian
--So far, I have completed 3 units in German.
-Practice German on weekdays and practice French, Esperanto, Polish, and Hawaiian on the weekend
--I have practiced German throughout the week, but I have occasionally forgotten to practice the other languages on the weekend.
-Do yoga every day except Mondays
--I missed 11 days in January, which is not great. Some of those days I did other exercise, but I'm going to try harder in February with this one.
-Do dishes Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays
--I missed 7 out of 13 days, which is really not ideal. I will try to improve this in February.
-Post 2nd and 4th Thursdays; make the Comfort Corner posts on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays
--I made all my posts in January!
-$X/week in savings
--Done in January.
-Donate to charity monthly
--Done in January.
-Practice flute twice a month
--I only managed one practice in January. I kept putting it off and ran out of time. I will try to watch out for that in February.
-Go to a "Dark Sky Night" at Point Peelee
--Not done yet.
-Use my Christmas gifts
--I made one of my Christmas gifts before the new year, and I have finished one of the puzzles I got, so this one is going alright so far.
-Mark tasks daily
--I haven't been great at doing this day of, but I have been able to mostly fill in the gaps. I'm going to try to be more diligent about this in February.
-Review goal progress for each month
--January's review is in progress. So far, it feels less daunting to have fewer things to track.
January - March
-Read 5 books
--I read one book in January. It was a Christmas gift and I enjoyed it a lot. It involved witches and secret societies and it was very pleasant to read.
-Cook once a week
--I succeeded here in January.
-Take a "me" day on the 3rd Sunday
--I had a very relaxing me day in January. :)
-Medium or smaller coffees only, no coffee on the weekends
--I had to large coffees and two weekend coffees, but most of those were special circumstances, so I feel pretty good about my progress for January. I am going to try to stick more closely to this goal in February though.
-Go skating (January)
--I went skating twice and had a lot of fun both times.
-Monitor Diet (January)
--I am managed to track everything I ate this month, which I found helpful for tracking patterns. For February, I'm going to try to keep up the tracking, as well as limit myself to one treat a day.
-Do a puzzle. (January)
--I completed my first puzzle. The picutre was very pretty (horses in a barn with snow in the foreground and wreaths on the barn doors) but it was the most random cut puzzle I have ever done and a bit frustrating as a result. I'm not sure I'd buy that brand for myself in the future.
All in all, I feel like the year is off to a good start and I'm excited to see how February goes. :)
