I don't normally make new year's resolutions, because I'm not very good at follow through, but this year I have a few goals in mind that I'd like to accomplish. I thought writing them down might help, so in addition to my list at home, I'm going to put up a list here, so I can refer back to it as needed, and possibly for extra motivation.

My list of things I want to do this year:

--Go to the gym at least once a week to work out, plus an additional day for yoga. Ideally, I'd like to get to the gym 2-3 times a week, plus the yoga, but I'm starting small on the theory that something is better than nothing, and once a week will hopefully be easier to start/maintain than anything more ambitious.

--I had previously promised to help [personal profile] ysabetwordsmith with website updates, and I did not do such a fantastic job of it last year. This year, I have set a small goal to reach each Saturday, in hopes of making steady, if slow, progress, with the option of doing more if I feel up to it. Hopefully, the added structure will increase the amount of work that gets done.

--Learn to crochet. I knit already, but crochet looks like fun, and my grandma has said for awhile that she will show me how. I would like to actually take her up on that offer this year.

--Knit a pair of mittens for my friend.

--Knit two floor pillows for myself. I would like them to make my upstairs cozier, and they are so expensive to buy, so I have decided to make my own.

--Practice French weekly. Again, starting small here in the hopes of being able to keep it up, and turn my French into something actually useful. Maybe I will find myself someone to converse with as well, to help with acquiring more skills.

--Work on emotional awareness. I'm not very good at recognizing or handling emotions, so I'd like to improve my skills here. Possibly related to this goal is also acquiring more coping skills.

--Do the dishes daily. I'm very bad at keeping up with routine chores, so hopefully doing a bit each day will be easier than trying to binge once a week, or even less often.

--Cook dinner.
--->Step one of this goal is to make a monthly meal plan. Living alone means anything I cook will have lots of leftovers, usually enough for a whole week. Even if I don't follow the plan exactly, I'm hoping having one will reduce the difficulty of deciding what to make and increase the likelihood of me actually making homecooked meals.

--Take at least one class. I like learning new things, so I'd like to go through the local community offerings, and find one that catches my eye. How many I take depends on what's available, if I remember to check at the right time, and how much free time I have. I figure one class in a one year span is very doable though, and if I have the time and desire, I can always take another.

Voulez-vous pratiquer le français avec moi? Je voudrais m'améliorer beaucoup, mais je n'ai personne avec qui m'entraîner.
