Here is my bingo fill for the "new grass" square of the public "March Is... Spring" bingo card.

Fresh Green

Tender shoots poke their heads above the ground,
bringing spots of green to the brown places.
Slowly, the new grass heralds the arrival of spring,
bringing with it the promise of warmer weather
and the possibility of many days spent outdoors,
enjoying the fresh growth beneath your feet.

Here is my fill for the "kids (baby goats)" square for the public "March Is... Spring" bingo card.

First Leaps

Frolicking on the mountainside,
the kids test their legs,
learning what they can do
ans enjoying the spring air.

The posting of this is much delayed, but here is my fill for the "spring ephemerals" square for the public "March Is... spring" bingo card.

Fleeting Pleasures

Dew drops on budding leaves,
gone by high noon.

Buds turn to flowers,
bright colors coming out to play.

Flowers blossom, opening wide,
then petals drift away.

The beauty of spring is
great but fleeting;

Enjoy it while it's here, because if you blink,
you just might miss it.

I'm going to attempt the public "March is ... Spring" bingo card for the "March Is..." bingo fest. I don't know if I'll have timd or spoons, but the card definitely looks fun, so I'll give it a whirl. If you have any prompts for the squares, feel free to let me know and I'll see what I can do. Filled squares will be bolded.

For the public SOLO Card for the Valentine's Bingo fest, I decided to play most of the squares by actually doing the things instead of just writing about them. I am going to do a little write up here about what I did though, because I enjoyed myself and I'd like to make a record of what I did. I meant to add pictures to this, but I haven't had the spoons for that lately. Perhaps I will add them in later, since I do have the pictures taken.

So, I may have gone overboard in picking cards for the November Drabble Bingo Fest (shocking, I know), but the ideas kind of spiraled out of hand. I couldn't decide between the 3x3 card or the 4x4 card, so I grabbed both, although there is a decent amount of overlap. I think it'll be fun trying to write two different pieces for the same prompt, and I could certainly use the practice. Now, two cards wouldn't be so bad, but the genre prompts on their own still leave a lot of the direction finding up to me, so I thought I'd make a card of generic prompts to go with it... and ended up with three. XD

I made three different 5x5 cards, and included the lists I used in case anyone is interested. I chose 5x5s because that gives me 25 prompts, enough to use one prompt for each of the genre prompts on my two main cards. The first card is a Worldbuilding card; I figured I could use some inspiration in that area because of all the different genres I ended up with (and I'm new at worldbuilding, even if these prompts *are* all supposed to be drabbles). The second card is a character trait card, to help me flesh out any characters I might make. And the third card has general prompts, to aid in the actual substance of the story. I might not use all three for every genre prompt, but they are there for me to pick and choose from if I want to.

Filled prompts will be bolded, and if anyone has suggestions for any squares or combination of squares, feel free to let me know. My creativity can always use a boost. XD

I am 2 days late with this fill, but I did start writing it on October 31. This story fills the "disguise" square on the Sherlock Holmes card from the Fall Fest Bingo. It's my first time writing in this fandom and I'm not a Brit, so hopefully I didn't butcher anything too badly.

Title: Blending In
Fandom: Sherlock Holmes
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Tags: Molly Hooper, Sherlock Holmes, John Watson, Bakery, Following someone, Disguise
Prompt: Disguise
Word count: 500-1000 words
Summary: Molly likes to watch Sherlock work.

Blending In
Molly made sure her disguise was firmly in place before heading off down the street. She loved to watch Sherlock work, but he always made her so nervous, and he had no time for tag-alongs. She wore a different disguise every time she went out, and she made sure never to follow him from one place to another; she would choose one location and watch there until he and John went running off elsewhere. Even with her disguise, she wasn't confident enough in her spying abilities to avoid being noticed by Sherlock if she followed after them.

Today, she was headed off to a little bakery not far from the morgue. While examining the body, Sherlock had commented on the poor man's clothes being covered in flour, and something about a business card in his pocket. Molly stopped one store away, checking her reflection in the glass. She had her brown hair braided and tucked under a straw sun hat, dainty sunglasses perched on her nose, with just a hint of blush on her cheeks and lipstick a shade darker than her natural colour. She had learned early on that going over the top drew more attention than she wanted and was more likely to get her noticed. Better to blend in in this case, at least above the neck.

When it came to her outfit, she tried to make it as far from her normal as possible, without going into the "look at me" territory that some outfits seemed to reach. Today she was wearing a bright yellow blouse under a lacy white shawl, a calf-length, flowing white skirt, and a pair of simple white sandals. Her goal was to look like any other woman out to enjoy the nice day and avoid her usual love of patterned tops and comfortable cardigans. With a last check in the window, she considered herself good and walked into the bakery.

As she entered, she could see John and Sherlock engrossed in a conversation with one of the employees. Determined not to draw attention to herself, Molly made her way up to the display cabinet and perused the treats that were available that day. Incidentally, this also put her close enough to hear what the consulting detective was saying, and the conclusions he was drawing with the information given. She got so engrossed in listen that she startled a bit when the lady behind the counter asked if she needed any help.

Silently admonishing herself to stay focused, Molly cleared her throat and placed an order. "I'll have two apple danishes and one cheese scone, to go please," she said, in a voice that was deeper and more confident than her normal tone. As she waited for her pastries, she continued listening to the conversation that was happening off to the side, picking up a few more details about the on-going case. Presently, the cashier came back over and handed her a box. "Here you are dear, enjoy your pastries," the young lady said with a smile. "Ta very much," Molly replied as she handed over the appropriate amount of change.

Transaction completed, Molly took her treats and turned to leave. Both Sherlock and John were now facing her direction, which made her heart skip a beat though her step never faltered. Much to Molly's relief, she didn't see any recognition flicker in Sherlock's eyes. Just as she was about to count this disguise a success, she registered a knowing gleam in John's eye. The doctor didn't blow her cover though, as she made it out the door and down the block before she stopped to catch her breath. Of all people, John was sure to understand her fascination with Sherlock and his marvellous brain, but all the same she would be taking a long hiatus from following them out on a case, just to be safe.

This is exceptionally late, but I did peg interesting cards earlier in the month, I just never made a post. And now I'd like a place to keep the cards so I can come back to them later, so have a post. XD

So I have made up two cards that combine my "Types of Food" and "Cooking Processes" Cards, rather than doing each card individually. Now my only problem is deciding which combo card to use. Any thoughts?

Combo Card 1
(Created by diagonally flipping the Cooking Processes card, so B1 becomes N4, B2 becomes N3, B3 becomes N2 and so on.)
Fish / Grill Travel Food / Smoke Dried Foods / Julienne Appetizers / Reduce
Feast Food / Temper Cereal / Deep-Fry Comfort Food / Deglaze Vegetables / Bake
Nuts / Truss Roots / Simmer Salads / Infuse Soups / Emulsify
Dairy / Beat Bread / Zest Sandwiches / Whip Legumes / Puree

Combo Card 2
(Created by picking which process to put with which food, in hopes of creating as few odd combos as possible.)
Fish / Bake Travel Food / Zest Dried Foods / Smoke Appetizers / Deep-Fry
Feast Food / Truss Cereal / Puree Comfort Food / Reduce Vegetables / Deglaze
Nuts / Temper Roots / Emulsify Salads / Julienne Soups / Simmer
Dairy / Whip Bread / Beat Sandwiches / Grill Legumes / Infuse

Card 1 is probably more adventurous while Card 2 might be more achievable but I don't know which to pick. Challenge mode or easy mode...

I have made three cards for Food Fest Bingo. I may put the Types of Food and Cooking Processes cards together, but I haven't decided yet. I am curious to use the Spices card, because I have never heard of any of those spice mixes before and trying them out should be interesting. I might have bitten off more than I can chew (ha!) but I'm eager to see where this goes.

Types of Food
Fish Travel Food Dried Foods Appetizers
Feast Food Cereal Comfort Food Vegetables
Nuts Roots Salads Soups
Dairy Bread Sandwiches Legumes

Cooking Processes
Puree Whip Zest Beat
Emulsify Infuse Simmer Truss
Bake Deglaze Deep-fry Temper
Reduce Julienne Smoke Grill

Spices

Chaat Masala Sharena Sol

I decided to make a card for the Cottoncandy Bingo fest this month, using a bunch of the lists on the bingo card generator. I picked the Cottoncandy bingo list, and a handful of others that looked like they lent themselves well to fluffy content. Hopefully I can get some good fills done this time around.

I couldn't decide which bingo cards I wanted to do, so I ended up picking the Mixed card and the TV show card, since that gives me a 5x5 and a 3x3. I'm not sure how many fills I'll get on either card, but there are definitely some good quotes and I'm hoping to find the time to do at least some writing.

"One of them stayed for sherry and showed me how his handcuffs worked." (Are You Being Served?) "Lucy, you've got some 'splaining to do!" (I Love Lucy) "What'chu talkin' 'bout, Willis?" (Different Strokes)
"I like the bit where someone says, 'it's bigger on the inside.'" (Dr. Who) "That's what she said." (The Office) "Rut roh!" (Scooby Doo)
"Did I do that?" (Family Matters) "Mrs. Slocombe. I suggest you take your underwear down at once." (Are You Being Served?) "I love it when a plan comes together." (The A-Team)

“Why, sometimes, I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.” (Through the Looking Glass) "How you doin'?" (Friends) “Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise.” (Les Miserables) "You have failed this city!" (Arrow) "Life is a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death!" (Auntie Mame)
"I tawt I taw a puddy tat." (Looney Tunes) "Houston we have a problem." (Apollo 13) "My precious." (Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers) "We'll always have Paris." (Casablanca) "Sufferin’ succotash!" (Looney Tunes)
“The only way out of the labyrinth of suffering is to forgive.” (Looking for Alaska) “This above all: To thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man.” (Hamlet) "The first rule of Fight Club is: You do not talk about Fight Club." (Fight Club) "Wax on, wax off." (The Karate Kid) "Just have a little faith." (Prison Break)
“You define your own life. Don’t let other people write your script.” (Oprah Winfrey) "Every song ends, but is that any reason not to enjoy the music?" (One Tree Hill) “Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.” (Wuthering Heights) "I am serious. And don't call me Shirley." (Airplane!) "Say "Hello" to my little friend!" (Scarface)
"I’m not going to continue knocking that old door that doesn’t open for me. I’m going to create my own door and walk through that." (Ava DuVernay) "Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Superman!" (Adventures of Superman) "There's no place like home." (The Wizard of Oz) “It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light.” (Aristotle) “Hoping for the best, prepared for the worst, and unsurprised by anything in between.” (I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings)

This poem fills the "Set Boundaries square on the 3x3 Solo Public Card for the Valentines Bingo Fest.

Drawing Lines

Boundaries can be tricky, ephemeral things.
Everyone's will look different but all are valid.
For some the line might be here, for others, there.
For one this topic is off limits, for another, that one instead.

Finding that line between "enough" and "too much" can be hard,
but the soul searching is worth it, to be able to say,
"This is okay, but this isn't," and to have enough conviction
in your needs and desires to defend your lines.

So go ahead, set those boundaries,
draw the lines that will keep you, and others, safe,
and never feel bad if yours come out different than anybody else's.

This poem fills the "Forgive Yourself" square on the 3x3 Solo Public Card for the Valentines Bingo Fest.

Forgiveness

Forgiving doesn't mean forgetting.
It is acknowledging the mistake made, taking note of what went wrong and vowing to do better.
It is letting go of the shame and guilt for causing so much pain,
and showing kindness and compassion to yourself as you would to others.

We all make mistakes, and by the heavens do some of them hurt,
but forgiving yourself is the first step to healing,
a promise to learn and move forward and not repeat the past,
a chance to start anew and work on being the person you know you can be.

This poem fills the "Give Yourself a Gift" square on the 3x3 Solo Public Card for the Valentines Bingo Fest.

You

Who says gifts are only for others?
There is no reason you can't treat yourself;
after all, you are just as important and special as anyone else.

So the next time a birthday or a holiday comes around,
or even just because,
buy yourself a gift and enjoy the treat,
knowing it will be exactly what you want.

This poem fills the "Write Down Your Successes" square on the 3x3 Solo Public Card for the Valentines Bingo Fest.

Keeping Track

Keeping track of the good things can help.
So if you earn a degree of learn a new language or master a new skill,
write it down.

Having a record of your successes -
the first time nailing a new dish, or perfecting a tricky crochet pattern,
or de-escalating a fraught family situation -
can help when the failures seem to be stacking up.

A list of accomplishments is concrete,
something you can point to on a bad day and say,
"See, I did those things. I will achieve more things again soon."
A reminder that failure is not permanent,
and can indeed be a stepping stone to learning the path to success.

This poem fills the "Read a Book" square on the 3x3 Solo Public Card for the Valentines Bingo Fest.

Beloved pastime

First comes the selection:
Fantasy or romance?
Comedy or horror?
Fact or fiction?

Next come the practicalities:
Set aside the time,
grab a few snacks,
get comfy and cozy.

Finally, the best part:
Open the cover,
read the first chapter,
get lost in the story until you finally reach

the end.
